Also, your reaction to fighting after the emotional rollercoaster of the trials is dead on. And it also kinda reminds me of the battle with Jenova after the Aerith death in the OG. I think it makes it better to have that little break, because it really lets you sit on the emotions for a while. Kinda like letting meat rest after cooking before slicing into it. It just makes it better.
