I married Alistair and we rule together....hate when he calls me his ball and chain in DA2. But I would have been sad either way.....but I like to think I would have understood.

2023-08-17 15:41:03 +0000 UTCLooking back, I'm glad that Mapo did not go with the default Hawke back at the beginning of DA2, even though some people had wanted it due to default Hawke's iconic appearance. Having a personalized Hawke that the player is so invested in (one whom the player can point to and say, "that's me!) just makes this mission so much better.

2023-08-16 15:53:06 +0000 UTCI admit, in my very first Inquisition playthrough I chickened out on leaving Hawke behind 😅. I did leave him behind at first but upon getting back and seeing how devastated Varric is (and that great disapproval hit) I reloaded my checkpoint and let the other person sacrifice themself. And since I had made Alistair king in Origins he was not that other person. In hindsight I kind of robbed myself. What you've done leading up to this Hawke/Alistair choice was the absolute best possible outcome, if dramatic heaviness and hard choices are what you're after. I definitely now have some world states with this outcome ready to carry forward. Your comments on how special Dragon Age/Bioware games are for carrying forward choices, insane amounts of consequence from all the branching paths, and in particular the involvement of your playable characters in subsequent games as NPCs/mentioned characters... yeah, there's really nothing like it. Not that I've come across anyway. It must be ridiculously hard to write and develope for (obviously) or more devs would do it.

I know that canon Alistair is King and that makes my heart feel much easier when I change my keep options for various outcome play throughs! I enjoy the conversation dialogue between various teams and options! I have played too much, minus Qunari! I don’t know why. I can’t get past Hinterlands with one! 🤣 😂
