[Early Access] Dragon Age Inquisition - Episode 13

FYI, I think you’re able to say Cole looks familiar when meeting him because he and envy are hidden in the background and even in a cutscene upon entering Therinfal. I love that the devs did this.

If it spoils anything, it only does so for a short time. I mean technically, both missions are available at the same time...so you're not really given a lot more information, since they're both designed for THIS part of the game. Also, Cole is such a bizarre character, that I really do think he benefits from more screen time rather than less.

The Animated Heroine

Thanks for addressing it briefly, Mapocolops. Hey, however you're enjoying it best is how you should do it. Just trying to look out for ya in a small way 👍

James Bottas

sounds good. as i said not a big deal just caught me by surprise that you already played the templar mission. but if it actually works for you as you describe its all good

There's a huge effort that goes into protecting myself from spoilers yes, which would be avoiding reading black emporium war table which spoils the villain reveal of IYHSB, those are the spoilers I remain safe from. I don't consider it a spoiler for myself to actually play a mission in the game as an alternate choice...because I am experiencing it during my LP instead of someone telling me what happens in a comment (which you all know YT commenters will spam spoilers about "here's what happens if you go with the templars" etc etc)

Mapocolops

And it's been this way since Dragon Age Origins, I have explored different outcomes in the previous two games. Not every playthrough on YT needs to be exactly the same, I like doing things my way and sharing that experience. I don't regret my choices and thought it was great to go into In Your Heart Shall Burn with the Templar context actually. Since I've played IYHSB mission now, I will say I don't feel that playing the Templar side beforehand ruined anything at all, it only made playing the mission better. It was very satisfying for me personally to understand what was going on, and I touch upon this in ep15 of the LP talking about something to the effect of "this is how I'd react or be viewing this scenario if I DIDN'T go see the Templars" so you will hear me talk about it and share my views on the situation, as I usually do.

Mapocolops

Yeah it is not the end of the world. But it will definitely influence the rest of his main playthrough/ timeline and he will react/ think about things differently compared to if he played the Templar-mission after finishing the game as a "bonus" episode

bubu0110

While I agree it's a minor spoiler, a spoiler's a spoiler. Not the end of the world necessarily, but I can already look ahead and forsee how his reactions are now going to be influenced by the alternative timeline. It's up to him of course. I just want it to be said and considered

James Bottas

right on again, bubu

James Bottas

I mean yes. But in his mage-timeline Cole would have been a cool surprise in the next mission and that is what he has spoiled. You are right if he chose the Templars as his main timeline it would be different but that is not what he chose^^

bubu0110

No, it's fine. It's a very minor spoiler and is not even worth mentioning. Plus, if you had taken the Templars route and had also spoken to Dorian in the Redcliffe Chantry beforehand (since going to the Redcliffe Chantry does not lock you in to the Mages yet), you would know about both Dorian and Cole by the time you play the next mission. So knowing who both characters are before starting the next mission is already part of one of the possible "natural" sequence of events even though it would not occur to someone who only plays the Mages mission. So while I would concur that this play sequence is not 100% ideal, it's really not a big deal at all.

Tars

Gonna have to agree with this. I get wanting to see the alternative missions but you have to be aware that you are going to literally spoil yourself in mid-playthrough by doing so. At least with some scenarios. Cool reveals that occur while going down one path, might not be cool reveals if you watch both paths. Seems a shame considering all the effort that goes into avoiding spoilers

James Bottas

I have to admit I do not like at all that you checked out the Templar mission before finishing your playthrough with your main decision (Mages). There are 2 reasons: 1. It completely removes the mystery of wondering "what happened" in T. Redoubt. 2. Much more important: You are now completely spoiled that Cole exists and who he is which is otherwise revealed in the next main mission in your mage-timeline. It is a really cool reveal and "WTF? Who is this guy?" moment. Oh well..

bubu0110

Fiona was just Fiona. Alexius just traveled back in time to a point before she ever spoke to you. It doesn't really make sense unless you tell yourself that his magic only affects certain pockets of time and space but even then...

Viv is honestly my least favorite character too. I don't think she's poorly written...I think she's very well written, but she does fall under the category of not being much fun a lot of the time. (Not all the time...she has some fun dynamics with some of the characters)

The Animated Heroine

i had the same experience with you when i was playing an elf mage, me and Vivienne were always butting heads, funnily enough when i was playing a human circle mage for some reason we got along so well that she was like a mentor to me, and i dont remember if it was different dialogue trees presented cause i certainly wasn't even trying to RP anything
