If you can't its because an object inside is in the way, a reinforcement/foundation, or its not turned the right away or the right distance to create the connection tube. You can even stack the multipurpose rooms on top of each other.

It ended up being a practical base, well done. And yeah, getting lost and forgetting to bring stuff (beacons, tablets etc.) is quite universal experience.

Obvious indicator everytime a room was built is important. :D 2 seconds later: does it again you can connect a scanner room to a multi purpose room when turned the right way with appropriate distance and nothing in the way like a filtration maschine, reinforcements or windows.
