Great points, all of them! Sometimes simplicity is best (quality over quantity). This series would've done much better with how you described in the last paragraph and max 8 eps.

You actually snagged Jimmy for this - Mark. You have Mark. A guy who everyone loves playing comedic roles, who then gave us HSF, Only Friends & Last Twilight and everyone went "Holy f***, his range is amazing" - A seemingly bottomless pit of funding given the SHEER AMOUNT of product placement. RIP Canon Ink printers, I'd rather buy a fax machine. Also, what is the thing that looks like Korean cat food that they keep putting on spaghetti? They made the show too complicated. Give me a series where Jay is trying to be Jeng, so his Mum is happy & the show is him finding himself and getting a good boyfriend en route. I don't care about Sant's family (other than to highlight a wealth disparity), and straight and/or GL couples are always a hard sell to BL fans, but if you're going to do one, make it interesting!!

2025-06-19 05:08:13 +0000 UTCIt was badly wrapped, but it was not a bad series. As for me, I enjoyed it very much. I think some people are overreacting with the critisism. The series was not coherent on tone, it made us hate Canon, and the Jada arc was a mess, but the show have more nice things than bad ones, in my opinion. Obviously most of the problems were about budget, and that makes me angry because I cherish the actors in this, but well, I've seen worse ("Cause you are my boy"... I'll feel the pain in my soul forever XD)

2025-06-18 20:55:05 +0000 UTCGMMTV, the concept was very simple: comedy. C-O-M-E-D-Y. I really enjoyed the series until the episode with Sant’s mom, I think that was the turning point. Up until then, this was one of my favorites of the year, but after that, the mess began. It’s not that you can’t make a comedy with some depth, character development, or interesting backstories. You can (and should, IMO, that’s the kind of comedy I enjoy the most). But it feels like this series never really decided what it wanted to be. And in the later episodes, it completely lost its tone. In fact, I loved this episode, in the sense that it showed real and deep emotional relationships, between brothers, mother and son, friends... but it just didn’t belong in this series. I would love to see this and would voluntarely suffer in a "Moonlight Chicken"-like show. In this one it was out of place. I loved all the actors/characters, except Jada...WTF was that character/storyline?. But I find it atrocious that the production didn’t secure the right script, the right promotion, or the right budget for Mark’s (and Saint’s?) first main role. He 100% deserved better. And then, when the series doesn’t do well, it’s the actors who have to go out and justify it? That really makes me angry. What did GMMTV think would happen if half the episodes were just filled with those abhorrent product placements? At least we didn’t have to see Canon in this one.

For me, I know it's a bad sign when I'm much more interested in what happened behind the scenes to have this turn out this way, than I am by anything I'm seeing on screen. I can see the emotional hits they were going for (but why those ones?), and every one of them failed to connect. It's like a boxer missing every single punch...it makes it so hard to watch.

2025-06-18 18:05:03 +0000 UTCIf you remember back, episode 2 was due to air on the day of the earthquake so the episode was postponed for a week, and we ran 1 episode behind the original schedule. So they ended up with 12 episodes but only 11 timeslots. Now the replacement show has a streaming deal with Netflix, so I'm assuming couldn't be postponed by a week. Had Sweet Tooth, Good Dentist been a hugely successful series I'm sure GMMTV would have found a slot for episode 12, but ultimately they made the decision to cut it down to 11 episodes. I guess the reason for the weird editing and storylines not entirely making sense is because 30+ minutes of episodes 10 & 11 ended up on the cutting room floor.

The writing and story are so peculiar. The acting performances are unbalanced. I barely recognize Jimmy and he’s one of my top favorites. I just want to throw cake at the screen right now.
