This reaction was EVERYTHING. 1989 really is that GIRL 🔥 also we are pretty sure that the songs were written for 1989 originally but not fully finished/produced cos there are some new voice notes on the albums from her talking about them so it's seems they were produced around the same time as midnight's so the production has a similar vibe to that but the lyrics totally match 1989 there are so many links its insane!

ajayyy youre a gift on this earth fr. this was such a fun reaction. i feel the same way you did about the vault tracks not being cohesive sonically with the original album but i still love them. i see them as a separate project. i have this feeling that they were never finished and taylor might have only had bits and pieces of lyrics and melodies, and they were put together just now. theyre very jack antonoff, i can totally hear his sound in the vault tracks. so to me, the vault tracks are a different album from 1989 and i love every single one

I hope you could read this:) I'll explain you real quick what's the meaning of the vault tracks in Taylor's re-recordings: All "from the vault" tracks are songs that Taylor originally wrote for that specific album. Some songs were just written, others songs had demos and others were even recorded at that time but didn't land in the final cut. So, what Taylor is doing now is taking some of those songs that were scrapped back in the day and re-recording them or finally making them melodies today. That's why those could sound different from the rest of the album, specially in her pop albums because it's harder to replicate pop music than country music.

Thank you for reacting. One thing that is sort of interesting about Taylor's release of vault tracks is that although the songs were written in the 1989 era, for some of the songs the things like production may not have been finalized until now so this may be why some of them sound like they don't fit exactly within the rest of the album. I kind of think they definitely have a midnights vibe for sure. :) love your reactions!
