The better descryption of this album: an emotional roller coaster. It boggus my mind that an artist as Raye was kept for YEARS barelly as an asset by her last label (Interscope) and that she had to became an independent artist to get her voice heard. I can't stop thinking how many talented people around this industry that hadn't had her strength to fight it back and never got their voices or their art heard. This is for sure one of the best albums of 2024.

Basically the is a journey of being taken advantage of emotionally and sexually and when she gets to Buss it down basically she’s has taken her power back by the end of the album she had so much trauma that she digested through the album and at the end she felt like she had control of her body again and therefore sex comes more naturally which is why buss it down is so playful. I highly recommend that you also listen to Raye's debut mini-album titled Euphoric Sad Songs (released in 2020)! Sonically it's a little different than this one, more dance-pop and electropop oriented, but I think it's also a really good project with great, memorable songs.

Wow, finally. I was waiting for you reaction, and I just knew you were going to love it. It's AOTY worth it for me. And unfortunately, it's all personal. The album has a lot to do with how Raye's former record company tried to control her, and didn't allow her to release an album for 7 years, making her a "rent-a-vocal" singer for european DJs (and of course, the abuse, and the men, and the privilege, and etc). Ironically (and thank God) as soon as she became independent she got her biggest hit with Escapism. Thanks for the video <3
