- and ... completed asset. More can be done here, but it's time to wrap it up. With these hairs there's always something more you can add and change, it's never really over, so chasing perfection is a endless errand.
- before I forget, it's tradition at this point for me to complain like an asshole about the FO4 headmesh every time I make one of these at some point and I haven't done that yet for this one. So if you'll indulge me .... screw the FO4 headmesh for making this harder than it already is :(
- ok, now that that formality is out of the way ... this came out well, I'm happy with it. Will even go as far to say that I think that this is my first hairstyle that has no major flaws, as opposed to my previous work where I could always find at least one big issue in it. Pretty much everything is mostly on point. I guess all the hours of practice payed off in the end and after all these hairs, I got better ... or this was just a simpler style that was harder to mess up. But I'll hope it's the former :P
- final polycount for this is aprox 73k tris (minus the hair elastic thingy). Nothing to sneeze at for just a hair, but compared to the last long style I did (100k+), it's a lot more lightweight. Another 5-6k can also be shaved off very easily by deleting one of the base braids (there's 2 overlayed on another).
- this will also get a variation build off of it in the very near future, since it would be a missed opportunity not to have it, with a lot of the work being done already. But more on that when it comes.
- model is ready to be put ingame, I haven't done that as of writing this. One final hurdle is the hair thickness. Fallout 4's alpha transparency might butcher the hair especially in the front where the roots are visible and thickness is thin. I reaaally hope I don't have to rebake textures with thicker hairs, but I'm kinda expecting it unfortunately :(. So far, I've never got that right in the first try and always had to make adjustments when it got ingame. Still, even with that worst case scenario, this should be out soon-ish. Updates to the hair pack and some of the previous hairs textures should come after.
