Project Poll 21
Added 2022-10-28 23:21:30 +0000 UTCTime for a new main project poll. Tried to have good variety and balanced hard-to-pick options, even though I have a pretty good guess what's going to win here. Still, I've been surprised before, so we shall see.
Multiple choice, you can pick more than one (and I strongly suggest that you do if you like more than one option, even if it doesn't win it kinda lets me know where people's interests lie for future content), top one gets made.
Poll options:
1. Baggy tech-wear jacket

- I've been avoiding baggy clothing, because of rigging concerns, but ... at this point, let's give it a go. I also think this type of tech wear stuff has been suggested before, so why not.
- Yeah, so not a lot to say about it, style should be something like those images (not exact of course). Also, one of the faster options on the poll to make, maybe the fastest, others are not so straightforward.
2. Tech Bodysuit/armor

- This was in one of the past polls, quite a while ago actually. I remember it being quite popular at the time, but not managing the win in the end. Giving it another shot now.
- It's a full armor, so time consuming. Also, the concept doesn't show the whole thing, so some interpretation on my part is required, which adds to the workload. Still, I think it looks cool and it's not something that I delve too often into, so probably worth the effort.
- This poll option doesn't include the headset or the fluffy animal thingy on the hip, it's just the armor itself, thought I should mention it so that it's not misunderstood.
3. Underworld Death Dealer Coat

- I mentioned in one of the Cyberpunk trench coat related posts that this was actually something I was interested in, so I thought I should throw it on here. Not too time consuming and looks bad ass. Who doesn't like a long leather trench coat?
4. Equippable Mech Arm Version 2

- So, if you've been following or using my content for a while, you probably picked up on the fact that I don't update or expand on things too often. I make thing, I release thing and I move on to the next thing. That being said, I've made this mech arm last year and I feel like it's been pretty popular. It feels like every time someone asks about something I made, it's always this thing. So, in the spirit of giving people what they want, or at least what I think they want, there's some room for expansion here, which is what this option is all about.
- There are 3 features that I'd like the "new and improved" v2 arm to have, so here's what you'd be getting if you were to pick this option:
1. Expanding the mech arm up to the shoulder and potentially into the pectoral/upper back/clavicle area. This was actually my original vision for the arm, but the thing was taking sooo long to make and I got pretty burned out while making it, so I cut it short just above the elbow. This would basically be the "main" feature of the update. The only issue here is the design, since I'd have to figure out how to "continue" without messing with the original, but I'm sure I'll figure it out :)
2. Having it be usable on both arms. Why have 1 when you can have 2? I think it would look really cool on a boxer/unarmed type character and considering all the detail in the original model, make things look very visually impressive.
3. Out-of-the-box usable boot/footwear versions. This is more of a quality-of-life thing for less advanced users. The original arm is using the base body equip slot (33) and that will make it incompatible with any item in the same slot, which is usually footwear. This requires some modding knowledge on the user's part to alter and since I get or see messages about this all the time, it seems the barrier to entry is a bit high. This aims to "fix" that by providing some ingame versions of the arm with footwear already on, using some of the models I have made in the past. Said modding knowledge will still be required if you want a custom choice of footwear, but at least there's going to be something usable out-of-the-box, without any tinkering required on the user's part, so I'm sure this will go a long way for some.
- This, the next option and the tech suit are the most time consuming options on the poll, so keep that in mind before picking, as there's going to be less release quantity/activity on my part if either are picked.
5. Equippable female head

- This was in the previous non-hair poll, so go there if you want the long version. The short is this would be an equippable female head mesh. Not animated, so don't expect it to be a fully functioning replacement for the vanilla head mesh, but rather similar to a helmet.
- Time consuming, as it's not a subject I'm too familiar with as a 3d artist or have resources ready to use, but I get to learn some new things and it opens up doors for future content. If you're looking for something different than the usual things I make, now and for the future, this is it.
6. Cyberpunk 2077 Panam Jacket

- Was also in the last poll like the previous option, giving it another shot now.
7. Hunter Armor

- Had this concept for years, it looks fine and I think fits the Fallout aesthetic, so why not.
- Putting the whole set up. Even though it is a full armor set, it's not really that time consuming, cause ... there's not a whole lot going on. That may or may not be a good thing to some, hehe.
- Sword (right arm in the concept) may or may not be included, depending on how long the armor itself takes.
8. More hair
- Well, I just made hair, quite a handful one at that. I'm extremely burned out, I don't have it in me to do another style right now, or at least not a higher quality one like the last, if I'm being honest ...
- ... Buuuuut, I did mention something about lowpoly/low-density hair (or lower) in one of the WIP posts for the last hairstyle and I'm still VERY interested in that, probably more so than some of the other options on this poll LOL. Other than trying out 1 or 2 new things, my goal for this would be speed and basic looks rather than minute details or extreme visual realism, basically trying to do "more" with less. I really think that a couple of these quick projects would improve my hair making skills by a lot right now, so very eager to go for that.

I was late for the poll... i would it vote for #5 it looks like an interesting idea! however im happy with the option 2 as a winner.

2022-10-29 02:42:52 +0000 UTCYep, even if they don't clip, oversized clothing can look very weird during movement. Stuff like this is precisely why I've been avoiding doing similar things. Shame 'cause they look cool. Still, at this point after making so many things, I'm relaxing on things like that and I've stopped caring about it almost entirely. For me right now, it's all about the journey and experience of creating the 3d asset. Heck, even the ingame screenshots, I only take them for showcase purposes, so that people can see the items work ingame.

The images are neither mine, nor actual WIP, or not even really the goal (as in me going for a 1 to 1 likeness in this case to what's there), just something representative of what things could look like by the end, basically reference, since having an image makes it easier for people to visualize the scope and main overall goal. The final thing won't necessarily look like that. I don't start working on any of the poll options in any way (even basic image/ref gathering) before the poll is actually finished, because that would just be wasted time if the option never gets picked.

The long jackets just clip with everything, and I play this game instead of just looking for something cool for screenshots, so I always think about how well things would work in game play.
