- quick update, since I've been pretty silent in terms of posting stuff, been focusing all the time in making this. Those images aren't the best, I didn't have time to pretty up the wip images, but they're good enough and show what they're supposed to. Ignore the body and/or fitment on it, that's not the body that is used ingame, so it doesn't match quite right.
- anyway, started working on the top for this armor set 10 (?) days ago and yeah, been chipping away at it almost everyday since. It might not look it (and I believe I said in one of the polls that this concept looks deceptively simple, when it's anything but) but quite a lot of work went in this so far. There's sooo many small pieces and ornamental details, it's very time consuming to model everything and make it look clean, I'd estimate 50 hours at the very least so far and I'm probably low balling hard. Then again, I'm purposely going very slow and being as nitpicky about it as possible, tweaking things back and forth constantly. I think the top is the star of the set, so I wanted to give it a lot more attention and keep the quality level very high, hopefully cinematic level by the end.
- with the way I've split this, the top will also include the bracer plates on the forearms (basically everything wrist up in the concept) so those are leftover and will be modeled next. Fortunately that also means that the whole set will be pretty much done after this piece, there's not a lot on the hands themselves, some gloves and some sort of knuckle decoration. Anyway, after I'm done modeling those bracer plates, I'm going to start detailing the top and finish up the highpoly model for it.
- I initially planned to have this out by the end of the month but with the way it's been going, I'm not entirely sure that's going to happen at this point, I don't think I can finish highpoly/lowpoly/mapping/texturing and ingame implentation in just 9 days for such a complex piece and not rush at the expense of quality, so I might put it on hold for a bit and release something else in the meantime.
