- completed badge asset. This is actually part of a top I'm making, so in a sense it's more of a resource, but since the badge itself is done, I thought I should just post it for now :)
- been meaning to do this for a while and since the fantasy armor seems to be winning in the poll, I thought I might as well practice some decorative/ornamental stuff. I initially wanted to make a simpler badge, so that it would go faster, but looking at the image one last time, it kinda looked like a cheap cosplayer's item so I caved and went for this more realistic looking one. I think it was worth the 3-4 days I spent making it, it looks awesome.
- the low poly render is using displacement, just as a disclaimer. The model that's going to go in game will run just off normal maps and be flat. I initially wanted to have some 3d elements be part of the low poly model but I gave it up and just baked it on a flat base. It would've taken even more time and the item itself is pretty small at the end of the day, about the size of a hand. Not worth the hassle and with displacement, I get the pretty render that I was after, so it all works out in the end.
