Advent 2021 - Vintage/nostalgia gifts

Like every year, I had promised myself to NOT make an Advent calendar this year because it's too much work & stress ("OMG, and what if I'm sick and can't complete the 24 days?!!"), but like every year, soon or later, I cave... :D

This year, I'd like to make "vintage" gifts: 1950-2000... Yes, I know, it's harsh to consider 2000 as vintage, but the idea is to make stuff that can remind you something: your childhood, your teenagehood, your 20's... whatever! :)
It can be toys, but also something else, like something for the kitchen, the bathroom.
Actually, I have already around 20 ideas on the 24 required, so I really don't promise that I'll make your requests, but it's very probable that some of your requests will replace my owns! :)

Post your suggestions in the comments, please! It's open to every Patreon.
Thank you! :)

EDIT: As I don't want to spoil the whole Advent calendar, I won't comment on your suggestions anymore, or at the end, you'll know exactly what will be in! :D

A Sony Walkman. :D I loved that thing in the 90s. Anyway, someone mentioned Nostalgia, and yes, definitely. Especially considering that The Sims were published in 2000, and just a few weeks/months later I think, my sister and I stumbled across ATS and immediately fell in love with your items! <3 And now my nieces are totally into Sims and love your stuff as well. :)

Petite Cerise

Ooh I don't know if this would be possible, but maybe a small set of vintage paper dolls? I had a beautiful set when I was little that belonged to my mom in the sixties but I don't know what happened to them :( That or maybe some more Beanie Babies :) I love the ones you did previously, I use them all the time.

MayLilithReign

So many ideas! Betty Spaghetti, Tamagotchi, Furbie override for My Sims, Polly Pocket

Hot Mess Simmer

i know this is another ask but i would also love to see this. Sellable Gift boxes of different sizes with storage capacity that can also go into sims inventories, so that there can be actual gifts at the christmas tree with whatever you want inside. It'd also be great not now but eventually, if the packaging you make for all of your objects like the barbie dolls etc can be storage-able so the object can actually go in their packages like the ones here: https://sims4.aroundthesims3.com/objects/special_10.shtml

CapriSim

a functional cabbage patch doll would be really cool! i know theres already barbie doll cc, so maybe like a barbie house or barbie car or my little ponies.

chelsea lohrey

You know what would be cool and I'm not sure how much modding is involved so maybe this is a collab? An advent calendar with festive chocolates in that gives a notification when opened. It could be that you create a calendar with recolours and options, maybe one lactose free and the other dairy as a storage object with separate advent chocolates or like your wine bottles, the calendar can be a food item that has 25 servings and once done disappears or can be thrown away. It would also be good if it can be assignable or only owned by one person. Another idea is a Storage-able stocking which I'm sure you already have stockings so it may be the case of adding storage functionality? and to be really wishful, growing up we would always get a Cadburys Selection box like this: https://www.treasureislandsweets.co.uk/user/products/large/cadbury_selection_box_81g.jpg. Either way id be thankful for any of your creations but any of these would be amazing!

No suggestions at the moment, I want to thank you for all your beautiful work that you do every year. You already put so much time and creativity and effort into everything you share here, and to top it off you do this advent calendar event and make it look easy (which I know it's not). Not to mention you're doing it for two separate games at once. I just wanted to say thank you, because your content has brought me so much enjoyment and helped me find new ways to enjoy my favourite games years and years after EAxis stopped updating them. I hope you never put yourself under too much stress to do all of this because I'd happily keep supporting you if it the ridiculously high output rate you have here had to go down a bit! ❤

Oh, goodie! I can't wait to see what you do!!! 🌟🎄🌟

I second the Barbie Stuff! I loved barbies as a kid!! Also love the other toys mentioned!

Audrie Heitz

I love the Cabbage Patch kids, Furbies and My Little Pony ideas!!! I would LOVE to see the Barbie houses, Barbie cars and Barbie dolls. How about a Barbie camper that acts as a house? How about the Partridge Family bus that Sims can drive or a tie-dye painted VW van or a 1970's van with a mural painted on the sides?

Sheri Dean

I would like to see more playable instruments as accessories. Violin with bow, viola with bow, cello with bow, large orchestral harp, kettle drums, black music stands with sheet music for seated musicians to play, accessory conductor's wand. Accessory accordion like the one you made as decor years ago. Music instruments can be considered vintage items. I see them all the time in pawn shops. Before Covid, people used to go to the theatre and see orchestras play.

Functional toddler Walker

BABY ALIVE!!! I remember how weird I thought her skin was, it was almost silicone

molly nintendogs ♡

I think one of the swatches from 2017 (?)'s Barbie doll is very similar to that, using Sims 4 assets though

molly nintendogs ♡

I had another idea lol. Furbies! You could make them Smart Speakers, too, like the ones from 2005 (I miss mine LOL). Also maybe Webkinz style plushies "Petsimz" or something that you can buy through the computer like the Voidcritter cards

molly nintendogs ♡

A few more ideas in my family what the game calls canning, in Australia we called preserving, I still have my Grandmother' stove top Fowler Vacola preserving kit from the 1930's, I Folk art painted it and use it to store dry dog food. But I also have and still use my Fathers electric enamel Fowlers Kit from the 1950's. One of those to sit on a bench would be great. Also a 1950's ice box or an enamel meat safe (not sure what they are called in the rest of the word}.

Ree Barkla

Thank you for working on an Advent Calendar for this year. I know it's a lot of work but very much appreciated and I always look forward to opening them each day to see what you came up with. These are a few suggestions of my favorites - Light Bright, Glo Worm, Speak and Spell, Garfield, and Strawberry Shortcake.

80s Cabbage Patch Kids :D

molly nintendogs ♡

Vintage typewriter would be brilliant! Liz D suggested it a bit further up the page. And I can tell that this Advent Calendar is a boatload of work for you, but I'm hugely grateful for it and can't thank you enough!

Kate Kelsall

90’s candy maybe? Or a few things for each decade. Pogs! Pokemon cards. Maybe in the form of a board game like the other ones you made? Lava lamps? Lava lamps that WORK? 😍 Is there any way to use the “moldable clay” action but replace it with slime or silly putty? Lite brite! Maybe use the dollhouse interaction for it? A shrinky dink machine that gives assorted shrinky dinks would be cute but probably too hard to do. Plasma ball light would be super cool. Troll dolls. Trying to think of something in game you could replace with cats cradle but idk. Chess might look funny. I 2nd bop it and etch a sketch. Maybe a hot wheels track as a “dollhouse”. Jenga as chess? I’m a 90s kid so that’s where I’ll keep the suggestions 🤣

Nicole puiia

The Merry Mushroom collection from Sears? I could pretend my parents gave them to my Sim-self instead of getting rid of them (I thought they were cute). They’d be adorable in my Sims’ Cottage/Country kitchen 😊🍄

Victoria Scofield

Maybe some cast iron cookware? Care Bear stuffed animals would be cute, or like 80s style Rainbow Brite, Cabbage Patch Dolls etc Barbie style dollhouses or those big plastic cars they made for them?

MistyWoods

Oh, my mother had one of those "wire and pins"pictures! And Lundby houses!! I still have a catalog of the early 80's! I was drooling on every pages! :D

Around the Sims

Oh, absolutely! :D

Around the Sims

"Nostalgia" might be a good word rather than "Vintage". :)

helaene

Anyone remember those pictures made with wire and pins? Lundby dollshouses were big in the UK, if you could afford one (we never could!). Rugs with a 60's swirly pop art pattern could be fun.

Kate Kelsall

im obsessed with mid century modern everything. anything from 1950s would make my day - thinking mostly decor items that are known from the 1950s - atomic era lights and decor, stalking panther statue, etc.

Jessica

I was thinking about this, as a child of the 80s. Cabbage Patch Dolls, My Little Pony, Transformers, GI Joe, Strawberry Shortcake and Charmkins were all hot stuff. And I remember my mom doing aerobics in ridiculous clothes. We had an Atari! LOL I collect Peach Lustre Fire King Ware, which is vintage.

Zenka Wistram

A tamagotchi or game boy toy recolor would be so cute! Bop-it, cabbage patch dolls, bratz dolls, easy bake ovens, baby alive dolls, or etch a sketch are even more great toys for kids/toddlers 🥰

The Sarah O.

As I don't want to spoil the whole Advent calendar, I won't comment on your suggestions anymore, or at the end, you'll know exactly what will be in! :D

Around the Sims

the original 1950s Barbie would be amazing!!!

Tracy Ann

Sounds great. Barbie has been around right through that time. 1950's had a lot of enamel cookware and cake tins and cannisters.

Ree Barkla

There's mushroom kitchen deco too. Maybe a cookie jar or canisters.

Wendy Roos

That would fit more for a complete set than for a gift to put under the Christmas tree, but it's indeed gorgeous pieces of furniture! I keep the idea on a list! :)

Around the Sims

Thank you! ❤️ I made a make up doll (cloned from a dollhouse but with custom 'dolls': a brush and a hairdryer! :D) https://sims4.aroundthesims3.com/objects/special_09.shtml

Around the Sims

Oooooh, yes!!! I had an old computer on my list, but not this one, though I like it! My man still uses an old G4, same shape but different color than the G3. :)

Around the Sims

Aww, thank you!! <3 I actually already made few of these; Mr Potato, for example, can be found in the 2015 version of the Advent calendar for Sims 4, and I wonder if it wasn"t in the 2012's for Sims 3? Ahah, I've been doing this for too long! :D https://sims4.aroundthesims3.com/objects/special_01.shtml

Around the Sims

Typewriter, alarm clock tea machine (lol), books, slippers, Polaroid camera, knitting set, small bottles of perfume set, crystal ornaments/snowglobes, alcohol. And for the kiddies, kaleidoscope, Mr potato head, Sega mega drive Walkman, cabbage patch dolls, Teddy bears, board games, and as said above polly pockets, my little ponies Just ideas! Trying to think what my parents might have given my grandparents for gifts lol! So that there is something there for all ages 😊 I LOVE your advent stuff, that's how I came to know about you. Thank you for all your hard work, I'm sure I can speak for everyone when I say it's HUGELY appreciated xx

Liz D

This is more 60''s I think, but does anyone remember the early american furniture? the Ethan Allen store's original theme

Wendy Roos

I would love an iMac G3 (I have the iMac you made for The Sims 1😊). I always loved them and wished I had one because my PC was ugly. Another idea is the N64 (favorite variation is gold). I always wished I could hook one up to a matching iMac and use that as a monitor. ❤️

Victoria Scofield

Sewing machine, make up doll, marbles. Anything will be amazing though, thank you!!

Ida Sims

I'm pretty happy to see that so far, all your requests are on my to-do list! :D Yeah, I don't know yet how I could make something fun with the Furbies, but they're definitively on my list! :)

Around the Sims

Ahha, on my list already too! :D

Around the Sims

Thank you in advance, whatever you make will no doubt be delightful! As for suggestions, what about furbies? They would make a great talking toy, though it would also be fun if they had some smart speaker abilities. Either way would be fun ^_^

Kelsie O'Night

Polly Pockets! Original 😊

Felicia

Maybe some snacks that can be quick meals for children or toddlers. Maybe some things that only teens can play with.

Whiskeikitten

Oh brilliant! I love your creations! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

On my list already! ;)

Around the Sims

G1 my little ponies please!
