2025-10-13 16:06:47 +0000 UTCColumbus Day isn't a celebration of Columbus, but for many Italian-Americans, a celebration of their heritage. A National holiday celebrating their lineage and culture! No one really gives a rat's ass about Columbus himself (indeed, he ended up in jail). When people talk about "canceling" Columbus Day, it is understandable that Italian-Americans feel they are losing something. Just re-name it Italian-American Heritage Day or "Amerigo Vespucci Day" as he was also an Italian navigator and AFIK not a genocidal maniac.
