Hey, Anya, your blouse is peachy and so lovely on you. This video is super interesting. The Titanic is a piece of history that, despite the tragedy, is full of romantism. So many stories, many true, even more not true. The reason the captain progressed at full speed, is because despite his warnings and protestations, the company who owned the Titanic ordered him to go full speed ahead. Why? There was huge competition between carriers on the Atlantic route, and holding the record for the fastest crossing was a major coup at the time. The captain was a scapegoat. The real reason why the Titanic went down, was due to cost cutting of the bolts that held the metal sections of the hull together. If the company had purchased quality bolts, enough of the hull would have survived to prevent sinking. It was all about human greed. The ship's staff even locked the 3rd class passengers in the lower decks so the 1st class passengers had no competition in securing places on the lifeboats. It's unbelievably tragic.
