i have a feeling that nao actually understood souta’s half-confession and that the reason he’s acting like this is because he’s scared of how their relationship could change if he were to accept souta’s feelings. think about it, he grew up in a dysfunctional family and doesn’t really have a clear picture of what a healthy relationship looks like, plus he’s only fairly recently started to really heal. it’d make sense if he’s plagued by worries like “what if we end up like my parents?” i think the concert tickets will serve as physical proof and reminder of souta’s love and care for nao and show just how much time and effort he has put into their friendship/relationship all this time. i believe they’ll be the final trigger for nao to seek him out and try to face his feelings honestly, even if he’s still scared i think this theory could also be supported by the song “the only exception” by paramore on the official idcc playlist on spotify; of course i could just be overthinking it and be completely wrong but i felt like sharing my thoughts on here :)

On his way out the party and heading towards Souta's house, he'll run into sweet sunshine boy who's in the middle of an rainy day (aka crying alone after leaving the party early). So Arashi didn't confess and Nao is still clueless about her feelings (I know he has low selfsteem but come on dude she has given you all the clues). My new theory is that she'll want to confess at the concert, after all she wanted to do it somewhere special, and then Nao will finally reject her, and he'll say something about feeling bad about the tickets because they must have been expensive and offer to pay his half or something, and then a dejected Arashi will say it doesn't matter since she got the tickets from Souta anyway. And I'm hoping for Nao to connect 2 + 2 together then, I'm convinced he misunderstood Souta's confession and thinks Souta is annoyed by him or something, but knowing Souta got him tickets for his favorite band has to make him open his eyes.. or at least make him confused enough about why he'd get him such a great gift if he was annoyed by him, so he'll leave Arashi to go find souta at the karaoke party and they'll finally talk.

Back with another parallel I noticed! At the end of the chapter “do you wanna try it” Naos is staring at a half full cup. In this chapter Soutas looking down at a full cup. Idk if this was purposeful but my theory (Mayhaps) is that it represents that Soutas cup is full and if he carries anymore he will overflow. naos cup is only halfway full, but he still has more than enough room for some of Soutas cup. Mayhaps representing that it’s Soutas turn to lean on Nao (okay sorry this is overthinking and I’m delusional) LOLL

i just saw another comment saying the last panel shows the distance between them atm and that literally broke me. they both have so much to say but so many insecurities that make them drown in these misunderstandings. you can clearly see that nao wants to spend christmas with the team (bc of souta) and i felt he thought souta didn't want him there in the celebration (at least that's what i guessed from his face in the panels where souta asks about him going. i felt like he was relieved souta asked bc he wasn't expecting it)

ouuuugh, this Hurts. i know nao doesn't know and that's kinda on souta for giving in (although i totally understand where he's coming from not wanting to fight for it and/or not wanting to mention anything, and i don't fully blame souta, i've been in those shoes. and i think arashi should've at least mentioned she had help with the tickets, even if not revealing by who, but. we have to have the extra bit of flavorful drama here, so i get it LOL) but i can just imagine the heartbreak. imagine! imagine working to get those tickets, taking up those extra shifts, extra shifts which, mind you, took away time from you being able to hang out with the person you're taking up those extra shifts to get a gift for. you turn down hanging out with them because you'd already picked up extra shifts - and then when you try not to take up an extra shift, they're the one who is busy. so you continue on and you're spending time away from them at the hopes of giving them a gift they'll love... only for you to give that gift up, and now not only did you give up that gift for someone else to give to them, but now you'd lost out on the time you could've hung out with them instead of those extra shifts - and you're losing out on MORE time with them because of them honouring the spirit of the gift (and you not being the one to give it to them so you won't be there with them as part of the gift) and them not being able to attend another thing you'd have hoped to spend time with them at as a result. and the last time you DID spend time or few times you went with them, felt like it went terribly so now things are awkward. and avoidant. imagine that feeling. just.... man. to be clear i don't blame nao either, he doesn't Know, but. i wish i could give souta a big hug and also a gentle forehead flick to please communicate lmao
