Hi everyone,
The last two weeks have been very stressful at work, so I did not get to do as much done for XXXivilization as I would’ve liked. I fixed some of the more obvious bugs from the last version and created a couple of new renders, but that was about it. However, this allows me to talk about a new topic in this weeks’ update: Beta Tests.
To be honest, the last few releases I’ve not been overly happy with the quality of the game. Especially when it comes to the initial Patreon releases, which have often been plagued with lots of bugs, some of them game-breaking. I don′t want my patrons to feel like they’re going to get a broken game every time a new version comes out or that they have to wait for some bug fixes before they can enjoy playing it. Unfortunately, no matter what I change on my side, XXXivilization has grown to a size where it′s become almost impossible for me to test every combination of player stats, of event decisions, and so on. That′s why I’ve come to the conclusion that adding official beta tests as part of the release cycle is in the game’s best interest.
From the upcoming Chapter 2.4 update onward, there will be one additional week before the Patreon release where everyone that has access to Patreon releases (5$+ patrons) can access a beta test version of the game. This version will be almost complete – maybe there will be a render or a minor fluff event missing but nothing big. Players that are eager to try out the new version or that want to help with testing can then do so. A week later, after testing and gathering feedback, I will release a more polished version which will be the official Patreon release. From then on, everything continues as usual, i.e. two weeks later this new version is available to the public.

Please let me know what you think of these changes,
