Weekly Update – Change of Plans

Hello again everybody!

I hope you′re all enjoying Version 17.

As you may recall, I made a poll on whether I should focus solely on Chapter 2 or if I should put out smaller updates to ease the waiting. The poll ended slightly in favor of focusing on Chapter 2. However, that was before I’d gotten a lot of feedback on Version 17.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the current state of the game is not sufficient to directly go to Chapter 2. I need to improve the balancing further if I aim to make the major update of Chapter 2 as fun and engaging as I want it to be. And it wouldn′t make sense to add a lot of content there while the core gameplay simply feels bad.

To answer this issue I will release a version 17.5 in the upcoming weeks which will focus on balancing changes and expand on the new features added with Version 17. It will also include a few new images and events, but not as many that it would seriously delay Chapter 2.

That being said, I have already begun work on Chapter 2 during the last weeks and made quite a bit of progress on it too – so hopefully the wait between 17.5 and Chapter 2 will be even shorter than was originally intended between 17 and Chapter 2.

A simple balancing action that could be included would be a "trading post" - a way to transfer some accumulated supply for another. There are points in the game where one element will far outstrip another, so trading, for example, gold for food or wood for stone would be an advantageous and logical extension of "real" economic growth. Whether this is added early in the game or set as a captured function (some point or points on the map with a "Marketplace" that, when captured, allows resource trading to commence), can be up to you.

Hello! Just wanted to sneak in and say that I tried your game over at tfgames and really enjoyed it. The management part is fun, though perhaps bit unbalanced as you said. What I found very interesting was the other nations trying to influence your rule, either by spreading their religion or extorting you. Will there be more of that kind of stuff in chapter 2? Like perhaps a foreign nation somehow regulating your laws, or at least more negative consequences for losing battles at home other than just being looted and then left alone? I wish you luck and look forward to seeing your project evolve.

If i could make one suggestion. there needs to be a new building that allows u to post one of your troops and build stuff around it. It seems like a waste to have such a large map and no way to build on it.
