I.. I have never drawn a gorilla! This was a really fun challenge.
Here's a sketch for Poketnik, a buddy of mine. Not sure if this guy has a name, or why he has such a big sword haha. This sketch was super fun though.
I'm super happy with the end result for this, but it took me a LONG time to get this pose down. I've attached a big page of sketches to this post.
And even once I found one, the sketch still went through a couple of second guess-y revisions.

I think I would describe my sketching style as volatile, to be honest. I've been letting myself just duplicate layers and make radical changes, and while I like doing it, and it helps, it's also a bit of a roller coaster.
Good news, though, I'm not having nearly as much issues with the act of sketching. Turns out the problem was my brush - instead of really sensitive (or as I like to call them, juicy) brushes that have several properties that change a lot depending on how much pressure I apply, now I'm just using a really, really basic brush. No texture, no effects, constant size. The only thing that changes with pressure is the opacity. It's basically a Photoshop hard round, if that means anything to you.
I've been enjoying it!
