Only partway into the eugenics and autism portion, but as an Autistic adult myself I want to thank y'all for this detail: The avoidance of "high-" or "low-functioning" in describing autistic people. These definitions are based on a capitalist and ableist view of autism, and are widely dismissed and reviled by actual autistics. This says to me that your research involved the input of autistic people, either directly or through work they've published. Thank you.
