Ro Khanna on Medicare For All, Bernie, Economic Populism, and JD Vance - AD-FREE

Hi. Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna joins Katy, Cody, and Jonathan to talk about the most devastating impacts of the Big Beautiful etc. bill, his belief that economic issues will help break the Trump spell, and why some Democrats are afraid to go on TV and hard-hitting podcasts like this one.

NOTE: Apologies – there was an ad in the first version we uploaded. Should be fixed now!

Is he? I have my own beefs with him, but it seems that he was calling for a ceasefire and trying to be a military aid obstructionist as far back as last February. He also rightfully pointed out last summer that the Dems were losing a lot of cred over their handling of Gaza, especially with young people. Willing to have my mind changed, just don't know where your stance is coming from.

Khanna is a genocidal monster.

I think I came out of the Ro Khanna interview thinking we shouldn't lose the separation between podcasts, entertainment and journalism. SMN is a show that combines journalism (the reporting side of it) with entertainment. "Here's a bunch of information, let's tell it in an entertaining way". EMN is a fun podcast about current events. "Here's what happened, let's talk about it, make some jokes, invite a comedian to join us". However, none of this prepares you for a guest who is a politician or holds power in any way. This, I think, is the same problem Joe Rogan has. Joe Rogan has a huge platform, but he's not a journalist. Even if he wanted to, he can't ask hard-hitting questions, fact-check or push back. I mean, he could, but that's not what his "Experience" is about. Ends up platforming a ton of weird people tho... So ultimately, I think it seems like a good idea to have a politician on, but it also requires a whole skill-set that you may not have or you just don't wanna be mean and ask annoying questions. But then that leads to platforming someone with questionable (at best) views.
