2024-05-21 02:51:53 +0000 UTCI never moved from Facebook to Twitter because it took me years just to move from MySpace to Facebook and I figured that's as far as I was going to move. Besides, the UI on Twitter always looked like crap to me, and also Facebook can be used to promote Events and has other functionality that Twitter just doesn't. I've never regretted my decision not to open a Twitter account, and I've never felt gladder of it than every successive day since Elon bought it. The bot problem is definitely a thing on Facebook, but nowhere near as bad (in my experience) as what Twitter's become. And despite what I keep hearing from people who aren't on Facebook but only ever see their elder relatives there, there's actually quite a lot of young people (a disturbing number of whom are caught up in generational warfare), and thanks to my algorithmic bubble *all* I get is left-wing and adjacent content. They did replace their Search button with a "Meta AI" function, which I hate - but perhaps more disturbing is the fact that Meta AI now provides capsule summaries of comment threads under some pages, and it's actually rather *good* (this bothers me to say). With that one thing, they may have stumbled on an actual use case for their LLM tool.

There's a bunch of weird laws against growing food (and collecting water) in front yards and now back yards are a target. I think y'all should tackle it and sponsor some mutual aid programs that can take food donations like the one here in Chicago does! Also, tell Jon O to do an episode on it the same week so that leftists and liberals can bond over a shared trend! A trend that equals fewer of us dying because capitalism is devoid of humanity.
