I think us millennials (if we weren't already disillusioned with the church before) witnessed those kids "stand up" for Christianity at Columbine and be murdered and couldn't make that make sense. Those kids got put on a pedestal and it was horrifying. How could that be virtuous? It was a massive part of the ethos then.

So, there is a lot of cherry picking that happens and many people really don't know the Bible. (I am not Christian, but I know more about the Biblethan many Christians do.) I took a class on it in college. The Bible was rewritten so many times and changed for political reasons. The reason that the current version of the Bible that is most common is called the King James Bible. It is because it is the version that King James had rewritten to support him and his policies.
