So I joined Patreon last night for the first time just for you guys: my all-time favorite channel. I watch your new episodes religiously and I would consider Some More News an even better version of Last Week Tonight. My question is: would you consider making a video about the Democratic primary nominees the same way you did for the Republican nominees? The mainstream news has been extremely effective at pretending they don’t exist and discouraging anyone from talking about them for fear of “weakening” King Biden. It is very reminiscent to me of what they tried to do to suppress Bernie’s momentum (which you made a video about), but much more effective this time. I’m even hearing that some states are trying to skip the primary entirely. I’m eager to get excited about a candidate again; lord knows Biden isn’t exciting anyone, given that so many people would prefer a “generic democrat” over him. But I am dying to hear you vet out the other candidates because I think you are “Fair and Balanced” enough to cut through the bullshit and figure out who’s got the best policies and determine if any really give two shits about trying to fix this broken country. I’m especially interested in Marianne Williamson, because I get the same vibe from her as I did from Bernie (before he gave up) since she’s expressed similar progressive ideas going back to the 90s. I’m just dying to see if any of the primary candidates can stand up to your expert scrutiny, and I hope that the more informed people are about the options, the more excited people will be to actually vote instead of giving up… Anyway, I appreciate you guys so much and also PS I have the same birthday as Cody 🤷♀️ thanks for listening!

2023-12-18 19:08:12 +0000 UTCHallo So I honestly don't know if you have covered this before as I'm a relatively new viewer. I suppose I'm asking IF it's been covered before, too? I'm Canadian so this fairly strict "two party or death" thing going on in the US is a bit different than what we have. Though admittedly our system is slipping that way due to democracy just kinda taking a dump overall these days. I'm not the most articulate I'll try to get to a single point with my query. I've been wondering if this obsession with "Democrat vs "Republican", "left vs right" or increasingly up here in Canada "Liberal vs Conservative", this hyperfocus on political identity being one or the other (and also becoming an increasing part of one's personal identity), do you think it is an evolution of say, perhaps, confederate vs union, this religious group vs that religious group, etc? Basically a means to propagandize and weaponize "you're not in my community/camp and therefore you're my enemy, we couldn't possibly find common group (even though we do have SO much in common)". Basically the obsession/hyperfocus on left vs right is a way to "other" people you don't agree with and create division. I ask this as I notice it's a common theme in politics/democracy, comment threads, news stories (yes, even SMN does it a lot), increasingly so. I get it's a convenient way to classify people and behaviour, but I feel it's leaning into a sort of silent civil war of kinds, where "left vs right" folks call each other names, attack each other's personalities etc and refuse to work together because of it. EVEN THOUGH IT'S NEVER BEEN MORE IMPORTANT TO WORK TOGETHER!! sigh. We don't have much time left all of yous...

2023-12-07 17:35:43 +0000 UTCQ: Huge Fan of the channel. I've noticed that your ad breaks on YT (I just joined the patreon) are noticeably better than many other channels I've personally seen. The writing, skits, delivery, the hosts' personalities really shine through, and even some great laugh out loud moments (Cody chugging the AG1 always kills me). My question is- do your advertisers notice this above-and-beyond effort to making the ads entertaining? Are you getting some extra money, (WHICH IS FAKE AND WE MADE UP), at least? All best, keep making great content please!

I’m guessing both your official positions is that of course they’re fine, so I’m more interested in how you would feel about them personally. Have you been in one before, and if not, do you imagine you’d be fine with it or do you think you might find yourself uncomfortable in one way or another?

2023-12-05 08:48:56 +0000 UTCMy partner and I have this thought experiment we call "The List" where we try to identify and reason out individuals from history that, if totally eliminated (not like time-travel murder style, just if they had never existed) would cause the biggest impact to current society. For instance, you could eliminate Kissinger and wipe out all his crimes, but if you went a step back and eliminated Nixon, Kissinger probably doesn't have the same rise to power, and you got rid of everything Nixon did. Who are some names you think could have huge impacts if they'd never existed?
