2023-09-13 19:26:53 +0000 UTCI work in the industry in NY, and I'd like to see some federal guidance and guidelines in addition to a reschedule (though it looks like cannabis may be pushed to schedule III soon). There's such a patchwork of potency laws, testing regulations, and individual product type bans that a reschedule without oversight would probably make things a bigger mess than they already are in states that aren't still in the grey market stage.

Here's the breakdown: As of Sept 2023: - It's been 43-months since recreational legalization in Illinois. - In that time we have spent almost $15k on weed. - Over $4k of that is just IL/local taxes. In Bloomington-Normal, there are two fuckin' Beyond/Hello dispensaries, but no other competition. They let Beyond/Hello open a second fuckin' store before they gave any others a permit for another dispensary. I wouldn't be surprised if some scandal pops up in a few years about how the owner of Beyond/Hello was greasing the wheels of the town in exchange for being the sole distributor in this area/county; at least for a few years.

Well, since it's not addictive, they clearly chose to just ignore the law. The consequences were well-publicized so I don't feel too bad for them even if I agree marijuana shouldn't be a class 1 drug.
