What's The Deal With Airlines? – EARLY ACCESS, AD-FREE, AND UNCENSORED

Hi. The airlines really screwed things up over the holidays and have made flying a generally awful experience for decades. Here's why that is (spoiler alert: capitalism and deregulation) and how we could potentially make it better.

why do I feel so mad right now? Oh, right, it's because of all the things I just said

damn we have a regular engineer here a nerd, completely 100% correct and informative... lets get him. ( reference to the who to blame for Afganistan episode)

11:12 - It was a bit disappointing to hear Cody confused as to what a fuel imbalance is. :( So, since I am a f***ing nerd who works in aviation, I'll give a brief explanation. In case people don't know, planes tend to have fuel tanks in the wings. There's usually at least one tank somewhere on the body, too. As people should know, planes need to be balanced to fly well. I would speculate, based on my industry knowledge, that there was some sort of failure (probably multiple failures...I'll get to that later) that resulted in fuel from one of the tanks in the wings not being consumed. This would then cause that wing to be heavier than the other...which is not good. I would also speculate the engine(s) on the side of the malfunctioning fuel tank were getting fuel from the center tank, if not even from the other wing (but hopefully from the center as getting fuel from the other wing would just make the imbalance problem worse). Planes need to have redundancies in place to avoid catastrophic failure and so I would suspect at least some (but not all) of those redundancies failed, too. One would have hoped an error would have been detected before takeoff unless there was a streak of bad luck happening for that plane.
