I often find myself in a nihilistic hole where I wonder: if everything in conservative culture wars tend to be projection and mirroring your opponent’s logic and attacks, how a random person walking in can tell which side is right. Not that I’m confused myself, but it’s clear a ton of people are. You arrived at the best answer I’ve seen yet: look at the shape of the hypocrisy. This is where you’ll find out which side is the least consistent in its principles. You’ve also imo completely run into the ground the argument that the left is just as bad as the right, dems are just as hypocritical as the gop, etc.
