He did not cunningly say what was needed to sacrifice Theon. Point to Cody: Pointless battles are dumb. Battles need to be treated like characters. They need development, move, countermove, etc. They didn't even use the White walkers in the battle which is something we have seen very little of and would have been something new, etc. Point to Katie and Cody: Sacrificing the Dothraki for no reason is really stupid. Point to Katie and Cody: Noted many of the good moments, Tyrion and Sansa, Dragon fleas, etc. Point to Katie and Cody: The Long Night plot was not resolved well. An "independence day" weakness is a dumb trope. Prediction: D&D are done with the Long Night. They simply did not have the chops to handle it. This is not their story. This is GRRMs. They do not know how to end it because GRRM himself has not detailed or worked it out yet. Point removed from Cody: Game of thrones is social commentary on power plays and how some great sin is causing an extinction level event. Both play an intrinsic part with each other. It was a poor move to write the long night off as a "side quest" not part of the main Game of Thrones. Don't excuse D&D for this.
