Patreon Q & A

Going to start doing a Q & A at least once a month for Patrons, and wondering what format you all would prefer.

Comments

Podcast.

Nick Ulanowski

I'd prefer a q&a where you just pick questions and answer them later. Give a three day window to ask and then answer them after some thought. Live video streams don't offer up our best, most informed selves. That and i dislike them. Podcasts can run in the background and drain my battery less. I'd actually not even mind an audio form of your news show.

It is nigh impossible for me to participate in a live stream, as much as I would enjoy it. As long as I can watch an archive of it later, that effectively functions as a podcast and therefore kinda sorta kills both birds with one stone, maybe?

In the immortal words of ... someone... "Porque no los dos?" You could totally get the mailbag in, and have a segment at the end or the start for live participation and audience engagment. Though if I have to pick : Mailbag.

I'm never in the right place at the right time to watch or participate in live events (plus if this is supposed to be a Patreon perk maybe only Patreons should get to ask questions?). I'd enjoy watching a video of you and Katy answering them, though, but don't want you to feel like you have to get dressed up for what should be your free time, so a podcast would be good. I can only listen to one podcast a week so yours would be it.

Live is cool, but only a much smaller number of people will be able to interact. I vote mail bag show.

I work nights and love listening to your podcast while I’m working. A live video would mean I never get to participate. I prefer the podcast, I really enjoy listening to the two of you interact and joke together. It makes the nights less lonely 💜

For the live youtube streams, it would be good to make the link to the privately listed VOD of these available for the Patreon people who missed it, so it doesn't feel like people who aren't available at a specific day and time have no chance to see the answers. I know the VOD could be viewed later with the same address I watched the live thing with later on, but I don't know if people who missed the stream new that...? I don't know. Maybe that's an incorrect assumption on my part of other people's awareness, but I didn't realise that was possible until I noticed some time later through circumstances too boring to explain here. I like the concept of the live back and forth of the youtube thing, though I was definitely a bit up in my own head for the chat being like "Limit everything you say to not monopolise the chat, because you ramble, and there's a lot of people here." But I enjoyed being able to say the few things I did say, and the couple of times my things were responded to were nice and made me smile. I also enjoyed the super casual feel of the youtube thing. To be fair, I haven't heard the podcast Q&A. I need to get caught up with the podcast. I'm super behind with all the podcasts I listen to. Maybe that felt super casual too? It was just nice. Two friends. Hanging out. With a bunch of invisible friends staring at them. :P

Both are good, but I prefer the mobility and lack of appointment-viewing the podcast offers. That said, I will watch the YouTube one if that is easier or preferable.

I like to convert files to MP3 and listen so I would love that- esp since my job makes it almost impossible to watch anything live. If the Q+A is live I basically can't partisipate- besides- I would rather you choose your favorite questions and think of good answers instead of spending time reading through questions to find a good one
