A funny side note when I was a kid my parents actually did give one of our dogs to a woman who had a big farm like property. The reason I actually know it was true was because we did get to visit him later and see him from time to time. Though we were told a lie later that our little dwarf bunny we got for Easter ran away while we were on vacation. The truth was while we were on vacation we left our rabbit with my aunt and uncle but some of their neighbor's dogs got loose and broke into our aunt and uncle's rabbit hatch and killed it. My uncle was pissed he told that neighbor if his dogs ever stepped foot on his property again, he'd shoot them and lay them at the guy's front porch because now he had to explain to his young nieces and nephew (me being the oldest at maybe 9 years old) why their new bunny disappeared. I figured the running away thing was a lie, but just had to ask one day. My uncle probably wouldn't have actually shot the guys dogs, but to prove a point of how negligent the owner of the dogs was, it wasn't like they happened to get out of his yard by sneaking under a fence or something, he didn't have any fences and just let them roam free. My uncle however had a modest wooden fence but the rabbit hutch was both elevated and surrounded with an electrical fence. So you can why he was so pissed.
