The crows are based off of a type of tengu a mythical creature that acts as a benevolent messenger typically, though they tend to be a lot more humanlike, Urodaki's red long nosed mask is based off a type of tengu as well, but those ones are very different, a lot more buff and big.

Ravens can learn to talk, so it stands to reason maybe some crows can too, they are very closely related. Crows are surprisingly intelligent birds, they use tools and mourn their dead, they get a bad rep but I love them, you can tame them to be be friendly to you and they'll remember you.Birds used to freak me out but the more I learned about them the more interesting they became. It's like rats, rats are actually quite smart and can learn to do tricks. I'm not saying keep a wild wild rat for a pet, but a fancy rat, which is the domesticated rat, can make a wonderful pet. It's the same as with dogs and wolves, jackals, coyotes, dingoes dogs are the domesticated form as opposed to the feral form of canids.

It's very reminiscent of Bleach and Hollows. When a Shinigami kills a hollow the human soul it once had is cleansed, unless it was an evil person in life, that's where the hell gates come in. For those too young to remember Bleach, it was a great anime series that got bogged down with way too much filler. It was one of the big 3 of the early 2000s. worth checking out, but I'd recommend a how to avoid filler guide, we didn't have those back in the early fandom days, when you had to use fan sub sites and never knew when filler arcs were gonna end. Happy series like MHA and Demon Slayer want to take their time space things out.
