Incase you couldnt tell naofumi was able to use each of their power up methods after believing in them as well as the item drop system that they didnt even mention in the anime for some reason. The item drop system works retroactively so all the drops he should have been getting were stored in his shield and he used lots of the drops to test out each respective upgrade system the other heroes mentioned
