Crissie in Diaperland: Chapter 16

Heyyo! Thank you to everyone from the Interactive Story Club for helping to put together another amazing chapter. Make sure to vote in this week's poll and don’t forget to comment if you have any additional ideas! I hope you enjoy!

-------------------------------------------------------------

Searching the area around her, Crissie failed to find anything that looked long enough or sturdy enough to cross the body of water with. Approaching the edge of the river once again, Crissie leaned over to see if it was short enough to jump, not liking her odds of sticking to that landing. Her only option to safely get around the liquid blockage was to run along its bank and hope to find a narrower section or some sort of bridge.

“Crissie! You’re making me sad. Why won’t you come back and play with me?” said the Caterpillar, doing nothing to hide how unserious he was. He wasn’t even trying to fake cry his way through that statement. Tiring of the chase and missing the comfort of his perch something fierce, he decided enough was enough, “Don’t worry, I have ways of finding you, my dear.”

With his hookah in hand, the Caterpillar sucked down another lungful of cannabis before exhaling a wide puff of smoke. As the smoke spread and fell across the mushroom landscape, a strange reaction began to occur. Slowly but surely, a glowing path began to form along as any mushroom Crissie so much as breathed on or bumped into began to illuminate. The Caterpillar flashed a devious smirk as the shrunken girl's escape route was revealed to him, something that Crissie became immediately aware of as the area around her exploded with bright, neon light.

Running out of options and time, Crissie recognized how dire her situation had become. There was no chance of running or hiding if he could track her this easily. Backing up until her heels were brushing up against the edge of the rushing water, a lightbulb went off in Crissie’s head. It wasn’t preferred, especially while her diaper was exposed but she had no other choice. Plugging her nose, she closed her eyes and jumped into the river, allowing it to carry her downstream.

Popping up from the water and gasping for air, Crissie looked at where she came from, elated that the glowing trail ended where she hopped into the stream. Unfortunately, she had little time to celebrate as only seconds after she resurfaced, she could feel her diaper starting to weigh her down, getting heavier and heavier the longer she had it submerged. Spreading her arms and legs out wide, she did her best to stay afloat on her back, a skill she’d had ever since she was a kid. Thankfully, this strategy worked to some extent, though it did little to keep more water from gushing into her diaper and stirring up the mess inside. “Not my most graceful exit but at least I got away from that creep,” thought Crissie, cracking a smile as her heart rate settled.

“No…no! No! NO!” shouted the Caterpillar, slamming his fist against a nearby mushroom as he came to the end of the glowing trail, only to discover that Crissie was nowhere to be found, “If anyone finds out about this, I’ll never hear the end of it. My reputation of regressing little brats like her will be ruined!” He placed a hand on his chest as his anxiety spiked, causing him to go in for another quick hit from his hookah to calm down.

However, before the Caterpillar could exhale, a large pair of eyes hovering in mid-air opened wide, followed by a wide, toothy smile. “Hehehe! Looks like someone lost their touch,” said the mysterious figure. Materializing the rest of his body, the figure was revealed to be the mischievous cat, Chess, “Guess you’ll just have to let the Red Queen finish what you failed to, that is if someone else doesn’t finish her off first.”

“Oh, piss off, Cheshire. I’ve regressed dozens of humans. I’m not going to lose any sleep over one,” said the Caterpillar, walking past Chess as he moved back toward his perch.

Maining his ear-to-ear grin, Chess watched the Caterpillar fade into the distance, thoroughly amused by how much the Caterpillar was trying to hide his rage. “Yes, yes. You go back and take it easy. I’ll deal with our troublesome guest…one way or another.”

“WOOOOOOOOAH!!!*

After nearly an hour of bobbing up and down along the seemingly-never ending river, Crissie finally emerged from the darkness, exiting the underground through a drainage pipe that led to a vast ocean. While she was relieved to be out of the Caterpillar's clutches, she now had a new problem to face, and that was being only a few inches tall on open seas.  Kicking her way back to the surface, she frantically searched for any reprieve from her constant swimming. Her arms were incredibly tired after maintaining buoyancy for so long.

Mercifully, Crissie's savior came in the most unexpected way. Floated above the water not far from her was the empty vial she had drank the shrinking potion from. Figuring it must’ve rolled into the stream not long after she’d polished it off, she wasn’t about to look a gift horse in the mouth. She paddled her way over to the sideways vial, draping her arms and chest over its side as she let out an exasperated sigh.

Now that she had something to keep her afloat, Crissie knew she needed to work fast on returning to dry land given her current size. Lifting her head up, she saw two potential options. One was what appeared to be the mainland where she had been spat out from. While it was definitely where she needed to be, it was considerably farther away than her second option, which was a small sandbar not far off the coast for a normal-sized person. While she’d still have to get to shore, she swore she could see figures dancing around in the distance. If there were indeed people there, she could potentially hitch a ride and save her energy.
