Seth Chapter 65
Added 2024-02-07 01:05:12 +0000 UTCNoah bit his lips as he looked at the void spectre.
The rotten flesh, the long nails that could easily tear away his flesh and the abyssal mana coursing around her body in the form of the orbs.
Void spectres were as their name goes creatures of the abyss who don't have a physical body of their own and were spirits who could take over the body of a human. They were powerful, much more than lesser abyssal horrors.
He had dealt with their kind twice before.
Both times, he had barely made it out alive. Though, to his defence, the first time had been decades back when he was in his early years of being an adventurer and the second time, he was facing a whole group of them who had taken over a small adventurer party.
They weren't easy beings to deal with, especially with each one of them being on a different scale of power.
Her appearance did confirm one thing to him about what had happened to Nasper Town.
“You were summoned after killing everyone in the town, including the girl whose body you control now,” he said as the void scepter sent two orbs towards him. “Was she taken over by you because she was some sort of a Mage? A Cleric?”
It was one of the most dreadful ways of summoning creatures, sacrificing a whole town. Someone had done it to summon both the scepters and the lesser abyssal horrors. But the question was who?
Who was it that was strong enough to do that? Was it a person? Or a group?
The orbs hovered around him as he wondered, waiting for an opportunity to strike him as he conjured up a shield to protect them.
The orbs stuck the shield as an explosion occurred, sending Noah back a few steps.
He stopped just before a tree and sent dark flames towards the orbs that chased after him.
The void specter simply screeched louder as her orbs got destroyed and made more of them. She seemed to be full of mana that was simply overflowing out of her.
“Why don't you tell me who summoned you? And the abyssal horrors? If that person went as far as to sacrifice an entire town and even instruct you to wedge a line between me and Seth, then he must be familiar with me.”
He said as he fought the scepter who simply screamed and refused to say anything.
She rushed ahead, her orbs shielding her and attacked with her nails. Noah slid back, turning away and kicking at her when an orb hit his arm.
A shield protected him, but he was pushed back, rolling on the ground.
Before he could get up, the scepter took a wild swing at him, but he dodged, staggering back as flames covered his hands.
The orbs came for him, but he simply grabbed them as they exploded in his hand. His flames protected him as he gritted his teeth through the mild pain and punched at the scepter.
It hit her right in the face, the flames scorching away her face and neck as she screamed and fell on the ground.
Noah immediately grabbed her up from the neck and threw her towards the tree.
“Why don't you tell me who summoned you?” He asked as the sceper crashed into the tree and screeched back.
“No! You are… going to die!” she said, creating sharp shards made of abyssal mana around her and aiming them at Noah.
He dodged them with ease as he walked towards her. Looking down on her, he said, “I don't think I will. As for who summoned you, I'm going to find out.”

Blades beaming with abyssal mana shot out towards two lesser abyssal horrors who lashed their tendrils at him.
They blocked the blades with their tendrils, but they cut them off before disappearing. The lesser abyssal horrors cried out in pain as the strange miasma covering their body moved to surround Seth.
He frowned, looking at the creatures. He had just escaped them back in the Tunnels, but he had to face them again.
His blade shone with abyssal mana as a tendril grasped his leg. He stabbed at it, cutting it off, before pulling at the tendril, closing the distance between them.
The lesser abyssal horror tried to move out of the way, but his blade stabbed it right in the eye. Sticky blood washed over his face as he killed the monster.
You have defeated a Lesser Abyssal Horror!
You have gotten experience!
Like before, there was no levels this time, a constant with creatures from the abyss. He wondered why for a second and slid back to dodge another tendril.
Looking up ahead, he saw the lesser abyssal horror squinting its eyes at him in an attempt to glare.
Smiling, he used the Flickering Step to cover the distance between them. The tendril moved to intercept him and he realised they were swifter than he had expected.
One of them managed to hit him in the legs as he rolled before finding himself right in front of the lesser abyssal horror. Taking the opportunity, he kicked it right in the eye as the monster huffed with pain.
The next moment, he took a wild swing at his blade and barely hit its eye before it moved back several steps.
Though, a sharp blade headed it's way and pierced it through its eye, ending it's life as the tendrils coming towards Seth all lost strength.
You have defeated a Lesser Abyssal Horror!
He smiled at the notification before a shout took his attention. Turning back, he saw Rebecca surrounded by three lesser abyssal horrors that were lashing at her barrier.
She tried to put more layers over her barrier, but cracks were already appearing on it, and were just increasing with each strike.
“Seth, you mind helping me out?” She yelled.
“Give me a second.”
Focusing on his mana, he conjured up Void Blades. Five of them appeared around him and he launched them at the monsters.
Two of them hit one lesser abyssal horror right in the eye, ending It's life. Altered, the other turned around to block the blades with the tendrils. He tried to move them to dodge the tendrils, but his control over them wasn't good yet.
He was only able to move one of them out of the line as it hit the eye of the monster. The other two were blocked by the tendrils.
Now, only one lesser abyssal horror was left and it screeched at Seth.
He rushed towards it as the tendrils moved to bind him. One of them hit him in his arm and he nearly dropped his dagger, but he didn't give up and used Savage Flurry.
The Dark Blade moved in a wild swing as it took multiple strikes at the tendrils, cutting them all off.
The lesser abyssal horror tried to regenerate them, but the barrier opened up behind him and taking the opportunity, Rebecca stabbed its eye with a dagger of her own, ending the monster's life.
“Good job,” he said before he noticed Rebecca's widened eyes.
He turned back and saw more lesser abyssal horrors coming towards them.
“Assist me. I will deal with them,” he said, pushing his mana to call upon more blades to aim at the creatures.
“Okay.”
Rebecca put out more barriers to protect him and both of them started hunting the void monsters.
There were a lot of them, but at this point, he had gotten used to dealing with them and they had a very limited fighting style, only trying to lash or grab his body with their tendrils. Sometimes, they would try to surround him with their miasma and he guessed that it was poisonous, but he always killed them before it could afflict him.
Rebecca also helped him by being much more assertive, conjuring up force balls to smash onto the lesser abyssal horrors that would often take care of them.
Like that, both of them fought and killed seven more lesser abyssal horrors before taking a sigh of relief.
“That was the last one,” Seth said, looking down to crush the body of a lesser abyssal horror.
Notifications rang in front of him.
You have defeated a Lesser Abyssal Horror!
You have gotten experience!
You have reached Level 32! You have received +5 points in Agility, +2 points in Strength, and 1 free stat point to assign.
He smiled seeing that he levelled up and looking at the smile on Rebecca's face, it seemed like she had broken through too.
“I got 2 levels out of the fight,” she said, before looking towards Noah who was crouched by the body of the void sceptre. “Let's go check up on Noah.”
“Okay.”
As they were fighting, Noah had been dealing with the sceptre and although Seth had only gotten a few looks at him from the corner of his eye, he knew he was handling the monster easily.
“This one was a tough nut. Took a while for me to defeat it,” Noah said as they walked close to him.
Seth took a look at the sceptre. A part of her hair was torn and her full face was burnt now. He didn't have to second guess who had done that. A few of her nails were broken too aside from the wound on her stomach.
Behind them, tons of trees were also crushed and torn apart, a consequence of the fight.
“Does that mean Maria—”
Seth began to ask, but Noah shook his head before he completed his sentence.
“The girl was killed with the rest of the town. The void sceptre simply took over her body and acted like I had done it to start infighting,” he said, looking at Seth. “They are known to be crafty, but I think whoever sacrificed the whole town to summon it is keeping an eye on us. It was deliberate.”
“Who do you think it is?”
“I don't know, but it's probably someone very powerful.”
Seth was about to say something when he heard a sound like a tree getting pierced by an arrow. He turned his head and saw something heading straight towards him.
It was a purple beam of light and it grew bigger and bigger, crushing trees and grass on its path.
“Seth, get away from it. It's moving towards you!”
Noah yelled and Rebecca casted a barrier in front of them, but the beam broke it in seconds.
Seth froze and used Flickering Step, but the beam was just inches away from him. As he closed his eyes to prepare for the impact, Noah shielded him, taking the impact on himself as his body flew away right into a tree.
“Noah!”
Seth yelled, looking at him and his arm that looked severely injured as blood dripped from it and his whole skin had burnt, showing the flesh beyond it.
If it had hit Seth, he knew he would have been dead or at least severely injured. It wasn't an attack he could have taken at his current level.
Where did that come from?
He thought and walked towards Noah to help him.
Noah hurriedly drank a health potion and poured half of it on his arm. Shaking it, he bit his lips and stood up with Seth's help.
“It's okay. I have taken worse hits. It will heal in a while,” he said before Seth could say anything. “I hear footsteps.”
Both of them turned around to see a man walking through the crushed trees.
He was a tall man wearing a cloak with red eyes and a bearded face. Seth couldn't make out his appearance well due to the cloak, but the energy he gave off solidified one thing in his mind.
He was a member of the Seven Seals, a strong one with abyssal mana swirling all around him.
“We meet again, Noah,” he said, looking at Noah and giving off a smirk.
