Yes, Artesia Som Deikun is the little sister of Casval Rem Deikun (AKA Char), so after the Zabi clan is pepsi, as a direct descendant of Zeon Zum Deikun (Char & Artesia's father, as well as THE Newtype supremacist (as well as the origin of the concept/term)), she's pretty much the one w/ easiest path to consolidation now (and there's indeed groundwork laid already, as revealed by Challia Bull this episode). It's honestly insane that both of Zeon's kids are Newtypes, ngl.

I tried to watch it several times over the years but the pacing just didn't hit for me like it did in Wing. Leave it to the fucking guy who made Evangelion to make the gundam go giant, white, and lose it's head. He cannot help writing Evangelion into everything

2025-06-26 07:41:29 +0000 UTCYeah, sorry it wasn't as standalone as I had hoped. For my thoughts on the “original run” of Gundam. 1979-80: The OG Gundam, UC 0079 (in media date), 43 eps. I recommend the 3 compilation movies for all the reasons people are saying. 1985-86: Zeta Gundam, UC 0087, 50 eps. The 3 movies have problems, but I would at least keep them in mind for the sake of continuing the series. 1986-87: ZZ Gundam, UC 0088, 47 eps, no movies. For a long time this was a black sheep of Gundam shows. While fan opinion has come around more recently, it is still generally considered skippable. 1988: Char’s Counterattack, UC 0093, A truly seminal anime film, and should be your medium term goal to watch. A capstone on the run, after this Gundam would experiment with different settings, occasionally revisiting the UC setting. You may get people telling you to watch prequel series of sorts 2015-18 “Gundam the Origin” and 1991 “Stardust Memories” (and you should eventually), but for reasons I won't get into here. You should not watch them yet.

2025-06-26 00:18:23 +0000 UTCIn general the movies do cut some moments but are paced well and are an appropriate source of watching the original Gundam 0079 series, especially in a content creating environment when you can get the full story in 7 (or 3 if you just want the OG story which gets you to the flashback fight in this ep) movies instead of 150-200 episodes Overall OG 0079 movies, Zeta Trilogy movies, and Char’s Counter Attack movie would cover the main Gundam franchise and the characters of Char, the Zabi family, and the original MC Amuro Ray (who was the voice from the gquuux talking to Shuji), the second sequel ZZ is good but isn’t really necessary for the main line story and gets partially retconned in the Zeta movie remakes A Easter egg for this ep tho they referred to it as the Endymion system in the gquux aka Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon who was played by the same VA as Amuro
