Sometimes, the role begins to "blend" with their real selves. That’s why, during emotional scenes like crying, even when the director yells "Cut," many actors can’t stop crying cause they genuinely empathize with their characters. In an interview, the actor who played Dahmer shared that after filming, he struggled mentally because of the character’s disturbing mindset, which he had to embody for months. He even mimicked Dahmer’s mannerisms. While actors are given a script, it’s up to them to interpret and fully embody how the character would truly feel. For him, it reached a point where he said he never wants to play a villain again, as he wants to protect his mental health and focus on lighter roles instead.

2025-06-29 14:18:27 +0000 UTCat 42:30 minutes - Let's just say I get why actors and actress have a lot of trauma or scandals related to mental health or substance abuse or any other (Hollywood) - Imagine really feeling and being another person for 3 months up to a year depending on the filming length and on top of that if it is immersive acting (method) and filming where you are cut off from the rest of the world. I would struggle to not feel exactly how a character that I am bringing to life should feel. They don't lie there is always a silver lining of truth, especially method acting. I could go on and on.
