To explain the joke with NPC-kun (New Horizons part of the episode), he speaks like how the pre-recorded lines or the example sentences you read when you're first starting a new language. Like, when most people start learning English, they start with very simple sentences. "I go to the movies every Friday." This is just to make it very simple to break down the sentence structure for a student, even though these aren't anything like how a real person talks. I don't think I've ever said, "I go to the movies every Friday", or something equally formal like, "This is my dog, Tom. I take him on walks every day." or how in this episode, NPC-kun says, "I found this pen." It's just making a joke about how when you learn a language, the way the textbook and helpful voice recordings talk is very monotone, formal, and basic instead of being closer to regular conversation. As someone who has spent some time learning other languages (Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin, German), it's honestly pretty funny. Like, if you've ever used a language learning app, the way they say something like, "Mizu, kudasai" is very similar to how NPC-kun talks.
