In the first two lines it seems we already agree on the facts The way you utilize deceit is how we utilize con. It seems the biggest issue is the emotions that go with using the word Con Conning someone is deceit and often they are interchangeable

She is not conning for love for the simple fact that in this very episode she told him that she was going to leave (in which she gained nothing) also she was very upfront about wanting him to love her. He was also aware that there was a reason behind it and that she hasn't told him about it yet. Which would be the omission of the truth. This is also why he asked her "is it about the plan of loving you because now I have one." A true con artist wouldn't have told you the goal of the conning. Also her being a mermaid has nothing to do with anything. That is something personal that she has a choice of when she wants to share it. That is actually a very human thing to do. You learn things about a person as time goes on that they didn't tell you in the very beginning. That's what makes relationships a beautiful thing.

She knows the specific information that he wants to know and is withholding that information because she believes that their relationship will change if he learns it. Withholding relationship-changing information is deception even if an actual lie doesn't pass through her lips. His feelings for her are based on a foundational untruth (that she's human); allowing him to continue to believe an untruth is deception. I don't think it's a "con" because she's not trying to take something from him.

It was funny :D And the discussion at the end I agree with Adorkable, that she is definitely not con artist. Because con artist is a person who cheats or tricks others by persuading them to believe something that is not true. She wasn´t taking advantage of him in terms of love either, I think, or better explanation - she didn´t wipe his memories with ill intent. She wiped them, because of something he said and she thought, that he would love her, if he met her under different circumstances. Because she knew, he thought she was weird, so she only wanted to get a second chance at meeting him for the first time and leave a better impression.
