For example, if you're introducing your name, you say "___-imnida", but for greetings like "Annyeong," you use "Annyeong-haseyo" instead. It can be confusing until getting used to it. You must use this formal speech in formal settings. In most other situations, it's also used when talking to elders or people you're meeting for the first time—even if they seem a little younger than you. But Chief Hong never used honorifics, which is why Ms. Dentist’s father didn’t have a good first impression of him. The TV producer was expected to be upset when Chief Hong didn’t use honorific speech with him when they met for the first time, but he accepted it right away and felt close friend to him.
