Also, I was nervous that Mark would trust the Boss at the party, and that was a stupid idea because Innie Mark would know the Boss isn't trustworthy. But that didn't click until the end, so that's that.

The theories are great y’all. To your point at the end about erasing people’s history to control and give “peace”, and how that “peace” is used to validate that control (and the flip side of your statement too)… I think what cuts through the middle of it is the idea of “liberty”, not necessarily “freedom” in a subjective sense. It’s one of the ways to dismantle a false dichotomy (used by Lumon and a lot of cults). Liberty and other “rights” are inalienable, so even compartments in your brain holding different “innies” can’t take away their liberty. Liberty can often be found through growth and struggle (I.e. Dylan hanging in there on the 1s and 2s), so “peace” can be an enemy to evolution or development. The conversations this show starts is great. And it is soooo good on a rewatch. Considering the years between seasons 1 & 2, that’s actually a great thing. Would have sucked if it wasn’t so good at planting those clues along the way. The tension is firing from all directions, the music the acting the editing, all incredibly palpable. Most edge-of-your-seat finale. AppleTV+ has some sluggers in their roster but then some are slow burns and end up as all star finishers.

On the other hand, is it possible that Helena started with a /terrible/ impression of how siblings treat/threaten each other? . Last bit, it’s kind of overshadowed by (reasonably) believing that Harmony did a kidnapping along with driving recklessly, but is it possible she was genuinely playing both sides in ‘convincing’ Helly? She claimed to Milchik that she would ‘stop it the way she always does,’ but she /hasn’t/ ever really stopped it, has she? And when she stops Helly, she says “we” will keep them alive and tormented. Did MDR even get the update that she had been let go yet? Was she /prompting/ Helly to go loud and obvious with it? She had time to clue Natalie in on what was happening, but didn’t.
