2025-02-24 03:56:54 +0000 UTCThe blurred character is from Laputa - Castle in the Sky a Studio Ghibli film. I've been seeing a lot more references to the earlier movies in the past few seasons. Nagatoro had some, Zenchu has one, and this one references multiple Ghibli films. I'd recommend watching them at some point, even off-screen, especially Laputa as I think it will come up again. I mean it's had three references so far in the series.

2025-02-24 03:06:50 +0000 UTCAt ~14:00 they're referencing the Studio Ghibli movie Castle In The Sky (including the music). Probably had to blur it out for copyright or to keep the joke going. Anyone in Japan would immediately get the reference (it'd be like a Cinderella or Lion King reference in the US). New girl also makes a couple other Ghibli movie reference (Nausicaa, Princess Mononoke) in the cafe. The Ghibli movies are definitely worth a reaction. Your daughter would some of them. Most are pretty family friendly. My daughter, when she was young, watched Kiki's Delivery Service on repeat for like 2 years. Definitely a good movie for a 9/10/11 year old. They're on HBO Max in the US.

Hakari and Karane sound pretty good, and I would like to hear songs performed by their voice actresses. Shizuka has that really cute soothing tone. Hahari sounds a lot like Alya while singing. Rie Takahashi (Iku) really shows off her idol singing skills just like when she plays Ai Hoshino. I was also not surprised that Kurumi has a good singing voice too, since her voice actress Amane Shindō features in BanG Dream and D4DJ. Mei sounds pretty classy (it’s also a delight to see her in casual wear). Kusuri is definitely suitable for children’s songs. I think she can even do musical numbers if the situation calls for it. I’m a bit disappointed to only see Nano just reading lines though.
