You're acting as if jealously is a criminal trait but its a very very natural thing for ppl to feel. Bakugo was beloved because of his growth. Not his bullying or jealously. Because he had that connection with Deku. Ppl love characters that turn their lives around and become better. Kouki was written to be a fodder to Hajime, nothing more and nothing else. Its not all that unique, especially in the isekai genre. They are written as characters with major hero complexes but since they arent the mc, they got trashed around and proven wrong and humiliated to make the mc look like the actual hero.

I´d recommend two shows, one is "How a realist hero rebuild a kingdom" that has 25 episodes and it´s kind of a mash between slime and overlord but with an actual leader that has pretty good awaraness... second suggestion is "Moriarty The Patriot", one of the most underrated animes of all time, based on the Sherlock Holmes/Moriarty universe is an absolute mystery masterpiece with 24 episodes, both are on crunchyroll.

2025-02-19 02:46:22 +0000 UTCFor Kouki’s sentence about him rather taking the place of Hajime and fall down the hole, I feel that from the face he made, it’s more of a pessimistic view of the situation than “I rather take his chance and not give him one.” The face he’s making feels more like “I would rather be the one to fall then so that I can avoid these Jealousy, Hatred and Heartache of seeing the girl I love gets NTR’ed by Hajime in front of me and can’t do anything about it.”

It's an Isekai from 2021 where the protagonist finds himself in debt in an ultra capitalist fantasy world, & follows him trying to make his way to the top. Only 1 season (12 episodes) so it's not long & I honestly think you'll vibe with the MC.

2025-02-19 00:14:32 +0000 UTCI really like kouki as a character even tho he’s annoying as hell, I think it’s unique since he’s not written to be an idiot but very flawed in his ideology and a polar opposite of Hajime typically when u see a polar opposite of the MC most ppl like them or root for them more kinda like deku and bakugo and some ppl never see them in a bad light which is why I like this version it shows how jealousy is more toxic to a character’s personality than you’d think and shouldn’t be a trait that’s ignored

Personally I really enjoyed it because of the MC, he no pushover and is often quite ruthless. It was a nice change considering type of MCs we usually have in a fantasy world setting. /e: Another suggestion would be "How a realist hero rebuild a kingdom". Its really interesting, it has action parts, politics that doesnt bore you even if they are just talking at the moment and of course the rebuild part. Also this season ended with LN volume 10 and the main story ends with volume 13. So if there are plans for a continuation, it would probably be another season, as there are 3 volumes left. (Note: The light novel continues and volume 14 was already published in Japan last year, but with volume 14 starts the "After Story" and is not really part of the main story).

Personally, I think "Getting married to an Amagami sister" is the superior option but its written by one of the QQ assistants and somewhat loosely follows the same formula with its own unique twist. However, idk if Lee is prepared for it after his QQ trauma lol

Actually got alot of similarities with Chuunibyou with the main characters. A nice romcom with some drama and very down to earth struggles of young guys and girls (college kids ofc) chasing their dreams.

I think “Monster” is such an underrated gem of an anime that is psychologically complex but entertaining nonetheless. BUT an anime with less than 25 episodes I think you would enjoy is “Kowloon Generic Romance” that is premiering in April 2025. Another anime less than 25 that I would want to see how you guys react to the male lead is “Yakuza Fiancé” which came out last year.
