2025-02-13 04:23:29 +0000 UTCidk why ya keep trying to villainize mark "why is he fighting the villains", well because theyre resisting being arrested with lava and breaking buildings, mark cant read their minds and know that they wont hurt kids or that lava wont accidentally splash on someone if mark goes to college the odds the viltrumites win and conquer earth and the universe are near 100%, focusing on training and training oliver I think has the be the play for now.. Also its hard enough/impossible to keep track of oliver atm, if he goes to school idk

2025-02-12 22:43:25 +0000 UTCThat's honestly pretty normal for a kid, especially one as smart and quickly growing as Oliver. Add in the extreme super powers and you have a difficult situation to deal with. Honestly it's why I think Cecil is in the right with how he eats to approach Oliver here. He doesn't have the emotional connection that Mark and Debbie have and so is actually approaching the kid with the caution needed, while the family is focused on treating him "normally" which is why they're being so dangerously soft on him. No one starts off with an inherent sense of morality, that's something you have to learn by fucking up and being punished. The big problem being that Oliver is inherently more likely to fuck up in big ways. I have no idea how the story progresses but I could totally see shit going bad quick and Oliver becoming an antihero very rapidly. I love the character writing in this show so much, it does such a good job of having a wide variety of characters and perspectives and writing just about everyone realistically and like actual people, rather than as archetypes which a lot of superhero media falls into (note, not always a bad thing but it's why I find a lot of superhero media kinda rote and boring).
