Agreed completely. This reminds me of the step-mother consorts or Jinshi origin conversation last season, very entertaining but they've gone off in their own direction.

From what I gathered from the episode, the story that Gaoshun told to Maomao was completely made up, and all he was looking to get from it was how it would be possible for 2 people who were being watched to escape for a period of time, that's why I think he said that the pregnancy didn't matter etc.. because the story itself wasn't relevant, he just needed to have a "situation" to know how it could be done. I also don't think it had to do with the envoys who arrived, there was never 3 people, I think its just the two cousins (who you guys keep calling twins) who shared a grandfather who came 50 years ago and was welcomed by the old lady. Maybe I read it wrong.. But that's how I saw it.

2025-02-02 08:37:58 +0000 UTCi think you guys kinda overthunk it lol but id say adorkables more on the right path from what weve seen so far from what i see, theres 2 envoys (the blond girls) they look alike because theyre cousins (theres no 3rd person) and their grandfather told them about the moon fairy story so they want to see it. and the story about someone being pregnant was just a metaphor for whatever problem jinshis dealing with. but one thing i know for sure, granny was a certified Baddie 😭

2025-02-02 04:33:23 +0000 UTCThe hands that was shown last episode was from touching the dangerous mushroom in order to kill the person who they forced to be acting like jin so it couldn’t cause a plague as poison/venom doesn’t replicate itself unlike bacteria and viruses so yes their could be a initial spread but since nothing is replicated it has to eventual cap out Edit Although I don’t know if Theirs a mushroom that has poisons spores that affect humans as their is a mushroom that affects ant into becoming zombie ish like from the last of us no canablism just the ants going to grow mushrooms from itself and spread spores to other ants as it dies

I suspect why he didn’t was because of Hong Niang who forced herself to be there with them. So the full information for Maomao becomes “need to know” basis, and he had to come up with something for Maomao on the spot, yet distorting the whole story enough for Hong Niang not to catch the truth, but still enough for Maomao to make her detective brain works. Which will explains why his lie felt awkward. Gao Shun is a man who prepares everything well. If he intends to lie, he would have prepared the lie so well that it wouldn't have caught Maomao's attention. So it can only meant he improvised his lie on the spot.
