I got to play DnD again! (this is slightly important just bear with me)

After over a month or so since I last played with my IRL group (and almost 3 months in our actual campaign-related session), I finally got to play with them again, and it was a lovely time that we all really needed (especially since yknow, fires and stuff. fortunately everyone's alright)

However, there was some bittersweet news, though I'd say was still on the sweeter end. Basically, our campaign has a deadline now -- my DM was planning on a vacation in June with her fiance that meant we wouldn't be playing for another while, and she brought up the idea that after almost 3 years of this campaign, just before then around mid-May would be a good place to call it, and that we should consider wrapping this story up.

The thing about this campaign was that as great as it is, it also wasn't really meant to go this far -- it was sorta like a one-shot that we all decide the second week over as like "Hey, wanna expand this into a thing?" We'd still hang out and play, and she plans on doing another campaign that was planned out better, and maybe we'd be able to rotate around and invite new players to hop on board.

And yeah, when she brought this up, we all agreed that sounded perfectly reasonable; this has been a good run and I'd be satisfied wrapping it up in that amount of time. Our current arc has a pretty clear goal to it, our characters feel like they're within bounds of resolving their arcs while still having fun, so I'd be content considering this our endgame. It's bittersweet, but I also understand that having a campaign properly end rather than awkwardly fizzling out is itself a blessing, so there's that.

...I bring it up because honestly, this might be the kickoff I need to properly commit to starting up a DnD campaign of my own pretty soon, just because I know I'll be needing to get my DnD fix elsewhere for a while at some point, even if it is pretty temporary haha. Maybe I should write up another form for players who might be interested in playing in the next few days, as well as contacting the folks who submitted to my previous one last year.

I'd say the conditions would probably be a bit different than the previous form because, based on that campaign setting pitch I've been tweaking a lot (the "fourth wall-breaking MMO" sucking in different realities into it, fictional and otherwise), and the fact I do have a little bit more comfortable experience as a DM now, I'd be extremely curious to see what characters folks would love to bring in and the kinds of stories they'd wanna explore. I'll think of the specific prompts later, but that I think will be the vector driving the interest for the time being, and we'll see where we go from there :D

If you're not married to D&D specifically, you could look into a system called "Break!". It seems like it might fit your setting pretty well - it even has a specific character archetype for "human from another world"! Just if you wanted a change. I look forward to hearing more about it either way!

It's been forever since I've played but I would love to see what you had in mind, even as an observer. I'm not huge into D&D (WoTC and Hasbro can eat it,) but it'd be fun to see what you come up with
