DnD on the brain again (and also thinking about scheduling)
Added 2025-01-03 06:27:42 +0000 UTC(evening ramble as I'm in between working on stuff) So remember back when I said last year I wanted to host a DnD campaign and then just... kinda didn't? Yeah, sorry about that, those folks who submitted to the forms 😅 I've been thinking a lot about it again lately, and perhaps it's just because of me not having seen my IRL group in a few weeks due to the holidays, but I've been getting increasingly impatient to do something.
I think the main factor stopping me right now is the uncertainty of my current new endeavors and waiting to see how my schedule is determined before I can commit to a proper weekly meetup. I've discussed it on social media but not here I believe: I'm actually going to school for animation now -- today was supposed to be the first day of classes, but it got postponed literally right on the time it was supposed to begin due to the instructor getting sick lol. I'm excited to get to work on learning how to hone my craft, but I'll be very new to this curriculum and figuring out what exactly the structure of the classes, attendance, and expected work is like (there was only some vague descriptions of it; I had more questions I hope to be able to ask the instructor today, but alas). As such, there's a lotta question marks surrounding how it's gonna fit with my day-to-day, in addition to my day job (which tbh I'm thinking about changing or leaving but I'm still holding out hope) and my art endeavors.
I'm very happy that despite some weirdness regarding restructuring this Patreon and also holiday-related stuff, things worked out pretty smoothly last month all things considered, and I'm excited to be able to work on more, so I do feel optimistic in my ability to adjust, but I still do need to figure some things out before I can really comfortably say yes, I can do this DnD thing. I've been happily writing and brainstorming more stuff and am excited to have players get involved with it and do awesome things together -- I ended up doing a test run as a DM in person last month (I learned a lot and we had a lotta fun!), and I would very much enjoy at least doing a test one-shot with folks online before making the decision to transition into a campaign.
I don't have an exact timeframe as to when I'd be able to get my act together, but I'd like to think that by the time I actually end up start doing classes and get an idea for what my weekly routine should be with all my necessary adjustments, I'd have a more reasonable timeframe. But for now, I guess I just wanna say that I am indeed still thinking about it and very excited for it, among other things aha
*To be clear as well, I'm not intending to make DnD into like, a publicly-available series or anything, I think unless the players REALLY wanted to I would not want to make like an actual play series, mostly because I would just like to treat it as a hobby without financial incentive in mind. I think it's healthy to have things to do that are for the fun of it rather than having an expectation it's gonna make good content; I'm just venting that here because it seems yall have some degree of interest in my personal hobbies and might wanna be involved lol

Damn, looks I like missed it by a while. Oh well, maybe I’ll have better luck next time

2025-01-03 21:53:09 +0000 UTCI linked to the form in that DnD post I currently linked lol. However, I closed it, largely because I already received so many submissions, but also because the particular conditions of that proposal are way out of date (back last April) so I'd need to make up a new one, which is only when the time is ready.

2025-01-03 12:20:06 +0000 UTCThat moment when one guy gets sick, another has to suddenly go help his dad mid session. The fourth just forgor and the third fell asleep early forgetting he had something to do that evening.
