A cool update! (I just feel like talking a bit)
Added 2024-10-22 23:41:11 +0000 UTCArtstuff is currently underway, and I plan to have more announcements to make on what to expect soon (spoilers, it's gonna be cool and I think yall will be really excited for it!) I just wanna provide a quick update because currently I have something going on that I feel will be pretty important for my coming future and will matter for my future plans!
So here it goes: I'm very likely going to school for animation! Some folks may know I work for a web video studio as my day job -- following some long-term discussions about my future career for the last several months, I was offered a scholarship for this vocational education course for animation (2D and 3D), part of the program being to guarantee that students will be able to find work in the field in cooperation with vendors in the industry. Long story short, I'm being offered to attend with tuition covered by a related program (re: my current work), and after doing a lotta research and direct inquiries on the course and what it could do to help me, it makes me very intrigued and excited! It's not like a full-time schooling thing, and it seems there's a lot of flexibility in terms of the schedule for me to be able to support a job while attending, and it seems very much wanting to prioritize getting people actual jobs (perhaps not for like, Disney or Sony-levels of animation, but substantial work regardless).
The current thing I'm sorting out right now, however, is my actual day job, which DOES conflict a lot with the allotted hours. I'm currently in the midst of conversations with my management over whether I can have my hours at work adjusted around the time I'd have to attend in a few months, or if such an arrangement would be fundamentally impossible and I'd very likely have to quit. Without getting too personal, some stuff in the last few weeks has made me want to quit my job (ex. feels like the particular stuff I work on may be a dead end), but then other stuff made me want to reconsider leaving outright (ex. I do like the financial security). I'd like to be able to keep this job for the latter, though I will admit, losing it might also open some doors for me to commit to working more on art (or if push comes to shove, another part-time job).
I'm still doing back-and-forth on the application process and also negotiating my current working situation, so if I have anything to share, I'll let yall know. I just feel like sharing stuff right now because yowza, it's both really exciting but also presenting itself as probably being another big change in how I'll need to balance my life and work, and I look forward to bringing yall more concrete and cool stuff when I'm not brainfogged from the (gestures) all of this happening at the moment :D

2024-10-23 23:20:53 +0000 UTCThe fact that they're trying to address concerns about students' ability to find work after they finish is incredible, and paying tuition as well! That sounds like a dream come true! Happy for you, girl!
