Samurai Champloo Episode 13 & 14 Reaction UNCUT!

Comments

lmao W react idk why but jin made her sound like a gigabrain yagami light mastermind with so few words, but its true she (AND the informant) used everyone. the brother may have betrayed mugen, but she knew it would happen in this plan the "couple" started. i think she just found a new dirtbag to latch on to, and did whatever it took to make that work, including throwing everyone under the bus. idk why jin mentions killing her, after seeing mugen alive, i dont think he had a great reason to. i guess its just to tell the audience hes leaving judgment to mugens hands, and set the mood for the last scene so for the last scene, keep in mind, mugen has survived almost drowning twice, and each time he lives thru the will to survive (tells "reapers" to fuck off). the horse cliff scene also shows him hang from the cliff like he clings to life itself. one interpretation you could have is after he rightfully and intentionally kills the informant, her single last life raft, he leaves her in a depth of nothingness, no person to cling on now. mugen leaves her in a situation shes never been before (because of her fear), but he has been numerous times. and i guess thats what delivers the message, is that sink or swim, its up to only you and your will to survive. whether mugen did that out of malice, maybe not. he may have just left her fate in the place it should have always been, in her hands. since im (side monitor) watching yall react, i had a similar reaction. after rewatching parts, reading comments, thinking about it a bit, im slightly above neutral with the eps. champloo will show different areas of japan, and this one is okinawa (and the 1 song is okinawa folk), which is neat. the "message" is good (rely on yourself if u wanna get out the hood), but the execution wasnt great. think the creator had visions for parts like mugen "death" scene, so there was emphasis on aethetics/art for parts of it, at the expense of story delivery. CLASSIC CHAMPLOO LOL (AESTHETICS > STORY)

Here's hoping you continue the Watanabe reactions with Space Dandy and Kids on the Slope next!

Great episodes. The last episode can be interpreted based on which side of the fence one is sitting on. Regardless of the intent, you can mapped everything out and still end up with nothing as a consequence. There are times where there's no winners in the game. Great 2 part episodes

The way I understand it, is that Koza had no reason to do anything other than appeal to Mugen, Fuu, and Jinn to rescue her from her life. At the very least bring her another town over. Koza, having grown up in the same criminal lifestyle as Mugen, decided she didn't want to just "get away" she wanted to win. We even knew that the guy she ran off with was her Brother's informant on the ship before they raided it. The brother was under the assumption the informant was doing it for simply the money, when Koza and him had already worked out they would run away together. She knew about this plan but did nothing to inform Mugen, Jinn, or Fuu about the dangers they were even after they were involved or even give them a heads up like 'yeah im gonna betray my brother don't get in the way' Do we really think Mugen would rat on her? Jinn? Fuu? No, their first encounter with the guy was getting a gun pointed at them and ambushed. Overall, I believe Mugen killing the Informant leaves Koza on her own to actually have to become stronger as a person and not to solely rely on shady men. Loved your thoughts and discussions.
