2025-01-14 00:25:06 +0000 UTCBilllie's music produces such a strong emotional response/headspace in me that even if I don't repeat a title track or album as much as the others (which is the case for me and this album), I still value it so much in the whole scope of their discography. And so it's great to see you other folks discovering what really shines for them on this album! IMO it's definitely the chilliest album and, in a way that is hard to communicate without sounding critical, the least outwardly...fun? Jammable? Haha something like that. The minimal use of warm bass contributes, for sure. But I'm so glad this flavor of Billlie is out there, because returning to it from the Eunoia or RING Ma Bell eras is so rewarding. And vice versa, too. Anyway, thank you for reading my Billlie stan word salad 😂 PS-- fun fact, this album's cover art is referenced later in the DANG MV and also their Japanese release Domino! Even funner, and definitely stranger, is the all-instrumental, truly out-there "soundtrack" version of this album release which does jazz, classical, and other official Mystic Story cover versions of songs from their first two albums. The whole company really does seem to have a true love for pumping out the weird and wonderful, with a smile lol.
