Weekly Update | September 7th, 2025

It's been a pretty standard week of development here, and without any Itch de-indexing drama, this dev update might be a less eventful than the others.
I've been focusing mostly on getting the gallery (our most requested feature by far) set up and in shape for release of 0.2.9.2 next weekend. I'm calling it "Revelations" to go with our pseudo-religious tone. I've decided to make it a gallery of animated scenes rather than images, and I like how it's turning out so far. The unlockable scenes/achievements are either Elythean (SFW) or Saheilan (NSFW). Hopefully, it will allow players to know for sure they've seen all the animated/still CGs within a given chapter and help with some of the fomo. There are still a few bugs and just general weird stuff I'm trying to figure out with it, but I should have it all sorted within the week.
I'm hoping to use the Scribe updates every month to add some of these system changes and upgrades (but depending on the workload of the content, that might not be the case every month). I'm also considering making patron polls to choose what feature should be implemented next. That's still up in the air, and I might end up opting for a more autocratic approach because there are things I really want in the game very soon, so I'll keep you posted.
Other than that, work on Chapter 3 is on its way. A lot of it has been art stuff this week; generating, fixing, and animating new sprites, backgrounds and CGs. The plan is to do the writing next week, then go back to art stuff the week after that (for the second half of the next update) and then in the final week before update 0.3.1 to write those scenes as well. The tentative in-development name of update 0.3.1 is "Green and Red".
Just like Chapter 2, Chapter 3 should be a week of in-game time, and also just like Chapter 2, the first and last days are when most stuff happens, with the in-between days focusing on elective investigations, socializing, etc. So the plan right now is to get Mountainsday ready for end of September, then Tidesday-Thornsday in October, and Lightsday in November. But there is a possibility that the October workload becomes two months' worth; even if that happens, I fully expect Chapter 3 to be complete in its entirely by the end of the year and early 2026 being about Chapter 4.
What I did this week:
Made a functional if buggy version of the gallery.
Made 4 new character sprites and animated one of them.
Made and animated 2 backgrounds.
Made a CG (still to animate).
What I'm planning to do next week:
Finalize the gallery.
Write all the "Green" scenes for update 0.3.1.
Finalize animating and fixing any art assets for the Green half of the next update.
I'm planning a big Saheilan CG for the next update, so I might start working on that already since those take a lot of time.
Make another Library Tunnels post (lore post) for Patreon. This one will be especially interesting to our occultists.
