Brothers and Sisters and Siblings of the Lucent Priory,
Remember how I said we were 'so back' last week? Well, we're not anymore. Itch.io has decided to deindex the game again after I pushed an android release. As of today, we've been delisted almost a week, which means the game is once again very difficult to discover. At this point, there is nothing more to do than keep the support ticket open and wait about a month until it's resolved.
Be that as it may, we're trucking along with development, hoping that one day the platform will actually show the game to people. Until then, I appreciate you telling your queer nerd friends about it!
As I get more experience in development, I'm starting to figure out who I am as a creative and what kind of processes work for me. When it comes to writing, I'm someone who only outlines the big plot points, and doesn't plan in a more granular way (because I find that I lose interest for the actual writing process if I plan excessively). Because of this, a lot of revisions are necessary as I get ideas to retroactively change things and fit them with currently developed scenes and plotlines. As a result, I have to develop both past and future scenes at the same time. With the staggered release system for different patron tiers here, I find that it really helps with my natural dev process, because I get to have 3 cycles of QA during which I can go back and revise/debug.
What I did this week:
Update 0.2.8.2 is out for patrons in the Scribe and Cantor tiers. It contains all the "first dates" from chapter 2. There have also been a few revisions from the last release, and the full android version is now playable.
The android version of the Canticle free demo was released on itch.io this week.
I mentioned I was working on 3 upcoming scenes with animated CGs, and was hoping to get all of them done this week. Scenes 1 and 2 have now been written and animated, and scene 3 has been animated but not written. Another scene (let's call it scene 4) has been animated as well.
I made a splash screen for Canticle.
I made a new icon for Canticle which should hopefully show up correctly for all game versions.
What I plan to do next week:
Listen to feedback about the new update from my Scribes and debug and revise accordingly.
Continue on with developing the end of Chapter 2.
Write 3 upcoming scenes.
Make art assets for a backdrop I'll need in one of the final scenes.
That's all from me. Have a nice week, and remember to do your Arcanometry homework!
